#1 Legendary ODST Firefight Highscore

[UNINTELLIGIBLE > INSUBORDINATION(?)]

Why would the US engage in this conflict? Because China is calling back all the money it lent?

Whats the relationship (militarily) between China and North Korea? We may be fighting more than one country if this happens.

You're using a hell of a different source than I am. I've never seen any evidence suggesting that the GDP of China will past America's. We're still double their GDP.

Funny story.

I think you'd be surprised. Once China's population realizes their government can't really take care of them I think you might see a different dynamic. (We've already seen it)

That's assuming a lot of things happen in the US' favor should a war break out, but yeah.
Even then that wouldn't make them accept forced foreign intervention.

Imagine if China invaded America after some president made himself dictator, nobody would welcome foreign soldier for a domestic affairs. I'm pretty sure China would rather keep it's sovereignty and be poor than get "liberated" by some westerners.

True, true.

All that's fine and dandy, but without oil, all their production grinds to a halt. And so does their war effort.
Read the edit. But I'll reiterate that China runs off coal not oil.

I didn't know that cars, ships, and planes, all of which are vital for logistical powerhouses, ran on coal.

Depends on a multitude of things, for instances how many civillians are we willing ti kill, and do we have help. I would say overall we would have a 75% chance of success.

Chinese naval and air defenses stand no chance. The problem is dealing with the 1.3 billion Chinese who are now being armed with Type-95s and all the surplus AKs the Chinese gov't can dig up.

Per capita-wise Japan is at about the US's economic developmental level. Apply that to China and you've got an economy that is set to be 2, 3 or 4 times the size of the US's. China surpassing the US per capita wise is not likely but even if the typical Chinese citizen was half as wealthy as the typical US one you'd end up with China's GDP being twice the size of the US's. Catch-up growth is always faster than the growth of the technological and economic leader. China will eventually catch up with the US. Hence it is foolish to assume that the US will remain the largest economy on the planet.

China has oil. It's not like it has no domestic oil. Besides you assume that it is impossible to turn coal into oil.

All true, but that's going off a lot of "what ifs" and assumptions.

I don't contend that America will remain top dog forever I only argue it probably won't happen in my lifetime. A lot can happen, though.

It has domestic oil, but not enough to support itself during peace or wartime. I also doubt their ability to produce enough coal to make up for the losses they would sustain.

The economic relations between the countries has the potential to heavily influence the war.

If China stays at the 7% it is currently at a time when the global economy is depressed and the US has a growth rate of 3% then the gap will be closed in about 19 years based on a rough calculation.

China has about 13% of the world's coal. Since coal is predicted to last about 150 years I think they will have enough coal. Besides the are moving heavily into renewable energy so they could divert more coal to making oil and less to power generation.

You honestly don't know what you're talking about. It would be a joke of a war, it would just result in the Chinese hiding every day hoping to prevail from us getting tired of a stupid war. You people don't realize that if you can't compete at sea or in the air (in modern times), then you are useless and you have to resort to just hiding and hoping for the best.
