I'm not so good with advice...Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

So i decided to go for a swim. I jumped in the pool and realized my iPhone 4s was still in my pocket. The screen slowly faded and the Light on the back wont turn off.

Is there any way to fix this flood?

Yep.

DO NOT try to use it. Let it sit for like...a day.

Put it in a bag of rice. The rice will pull the water and absorb it. It's not guaranteed to work, but it's worth a try. You might have to leave it in there for quite some time for there to be any positive effects.

How long was it under water?

Maybe 30 seconds. Its already in the rice. Really hoping this works because im a broke college student. Dont know when ill be able to get another phone.

Do not try to turn it on until you are sure it is completely dry.

Rub some bacon on it.

Thankfully it wasn't under water too long. Although, any water can severely damage a phone. Don't bother touching it for at least after a day or so, despite how tempted you are to check on it.

The downside to this is that with an iPhone you can't remove the battery as you could with another phone type.

Hopefully it works fine though with little to no effects. Good luck man.

What service provider do you have? Also, do you have insurance? You can always make a claim if you have it. Or, in a worst case scenario you can always take it to Apple to see if they can look at it. One of two things will happen: (1) They'll say your F'd. (2) They'll swap it out no questions asked.

Believe it or not, they do that quite often. I have numerous friends that work as Genius' behind the scenes and they always say they do that instead of actually fixing the problem.

I have Verizon. And apples warranty doesn't cover water damage.

  • 12.05.2012 6:18 PM PDT

That happened to me and I fixed it with the bag of rice and let it dry out. Just give it time.

I know warranty doesn't cover water damage, I'm just saying it's luck of the draw whether or not the employee does his or her job correctly.

I've had friends go with the same issues or even a simple software update that needed to be done and were given a new phone without a question asked.

If anything is fried, then they'll buy it for parts and sell you a new one for $200.
