Subject: Could light possibly be hardened?

1.) "Crack In Time" - Louder Production Music
2.) "Agressive Sucks" - Moss Landing
3.) Custom Version of "Meet Oscar" - Louder Productions Music
4.) "Behind You Rise" - Distortion Music
5.) "Aurora" - Mark Petrie
6.) "Surge Down - Audio Machine

Title for reference.

And yes, I'm referring to the most common form of hard light you would see in the Halo Universe.

So what do you think? Could it be beneficial?

Want Coup? Here it is for Chrome.

I don't think we have any way to store light though...

Stop being a lazy ass and stop trolling through the forums, play video games!

If the Forerunners did, I don't see why we couldn't manipulate light to form a solid surface. I'm too tired to think about physics right now, maybe tomorrow haha.

I say we use a box, That should work.

You look around. You fire your weapon before you realize.
Its just me. I fall and you walk up. You cry why.
When i pop up. You look at me in wonder. I say,"ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL."
You bend to my will and go to a cliff, walk off, and fall.
The last thing you hear is me stating as fact,"All will fail the battle of life, you just went early"

It's probably possible, but not at our current tech level.

And of course it would be beneficial. If only to give us an understanding of it.

It's both. You have waves of light and Photons.

Hello.

That isn't light, they aren't actually "Light" bridges, it's plasma that's been compressed into a safe form.

I don't need no stinking signature!

This is the only article I can find on it.

The gist of it is roughly "It is possible, but we don't know how."

I think plasma manipulation is more efficient personally

Is it? I haven't read that or heard it before, do you have a link by any chance?

Also would you say that the Hard-Light shields in Halo 4 are plasma as well?

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

I dunno. Pack the photons together somehow into a dense structure?

  • 12.05.2012 8:08 PM PDT

So...

you can leave now.

Light in the wave form can not be "hardened" I would say our best bet is on its particle form. However, I'm not sure we could slow light to be able to bind to anything giving it any extra mass that could be defined as "hardening".

Unless my physics has gone to shot and i'm completely wrong, yea, probably this.

No, it's literally hardened light.

OT: No, "hard light" is nonsensical and is space magic.

No, we have generated plasma shields already but it is just too expensive and demands too much energy

Halo is in the 26th century, anything could happen by then. But I don't think they're real, my apologies if you thought I was thinking that.

I am the mushroomman.

I'm pretty sure that photons are without mass, so no.

0 mass, literally. If you do the math.

OT: It's impossible.
