"If you want to test a man's character, give him power" -- Abraham Lincoln

Alright in Halo 4 I'm sure we all know by now that the Chief leaves Requiem via a Covenant Lich on its outer hull. Apparently he made it through without any issue.

Later after the Composer mission, he is told that the fighter's shields aren't rated for slipspace so he places the craft within the Didact's ship shields.

Question: Was the Chief safe to exposure on the Lich because he was under the Lich's shields? Also, why is it that its safe for him to travel through the slipspace portals on Requiem?

Does the size of the slipspace event affect the safeness of the object or person traveling through it?

Unfortunately I don't have access to them so I'll have to settle for the members of the Flood who have hopefully more knowledge on this from reading the books.

Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.

I'm guessing larger portals contain too much energy or leave too much room for error. I guess bad things happen to things that enter a slipspace portal meant for a much larger customer.

1. Yes
2. Slipspace trans-location, or mini jumps are completely safe. Being exposed to slipspace for long= Death.

That's what it was. Slipspace Translocation, now I remember. Perfectly safe, OP.

Pretty sure it was due to the Lich's shields.

Also, Forerunner slipspace tech was far more advanced than UNSC or Covenant tech. They could allow fast and safe personal transportation.

If he was safe under the Lich's shields, why did Cortana tell him he should get under deck?

Because being in a ship is preferable to not being in a ship, slipspace or not.

Makes sense, I guess Im mainly curious though how long it took for the Chief to get from Requiem to Installation 3. I still feel like that even a person under shields would be unsafe.
