You act as if it matters whether I get banned or not, making a new account is just a minor inconvenience.

It's even less of an inconvenience to remove your account from the main forums. The problem you run into is that nobody knows (or cares) who you are because you have no identity on this website.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

@TU I know it wouldn't, it was just an example. So, you're saying no one has been perma'd over flaming someone?

1. people can changeThey can, but most don't.

2. Forever is too longNo, it isn't. Sometimes it's not even long enough.

3. Stops Alts from being createdYeah, I don'y really see that. It might cut back on them a bit, but it won't put an end to it, not by a long shot.

Alright well those are hollow rebuttals.

I don't know 100% for a fact if someone has or hasn't been instantly permabanned for "flaming" - I'm telling you that they most likely would have to have a lengthy history of the same offense, including long bans for it, before getting a permaban. Permabans are not handed out lightly.

Like I said originally, someone would have been given plenty of chances to "change" before getting permanently removed from the website.

I do not believe it should be done away with, it teaches many great lessons.

You just lost the game. Now facepalm yourself for clicking this :P

Even if they did away with it they would find away around it. Ban them for amonth then ban them another when it runs out.

But being banned for 3 months could teach the same lesson, no?

Why would they if their main account can be used?

In hindsight, what's stopping them anyway from creating and using an alternate account no matter how lengthy the ban is; especially when it comes to people who do it for the sake of flame-bating/flaming? It is an easy objective because of the low difficulty to avoid the penalty - their main account can't be compromised, yet they don't care if a particular alt receives a permanent or any length ban. It's an unfortunate win-win scenario because of how easy it is to get a response from baiting and flaming users. That's the underlying problem and that's why this idea won't reduce the number of alts created.

Since mods are obviously patrolling this thread, can I ask what standard procedure is for accounts that you know are alts avoiding a ban for one or more reasons (posting style, avatar, join date, name etc)?

It's easy to know who's an alt, why not take care of them? If you know you don't need any evidence! You have no rights remember?
