You better close this sig when your done.

To get the ip for your router got to Start>type 'cmd' in the text field>press enter>type 'ipconfig/all' and it'll be in there

Currently studying Computer Science & Software engineering. Hope to work on mobile devices of the future! When a certain game's credits roll, look out for my name! ;)

You will -blam!- bricks when you see what game it is! =)

press <START + R> type in cmd press <ENTER>, type in ipconfig. Look for the row that says IPv4: XXX.XXX.XX

thats your IP.

It depends on which one you want. Since you're presumably connecting your Xbox to the same network your computer is on, you'll want your router's LAN address.

Open a command prompt and type in "ipconfig" and look for the adaptor which is being used to connect to network you're wanting the router address for.

Copy the "Default Gateway" address (this is your router's address) and the subnet mask and enter both of them into your Xbox's network config.

Your router likely has a DHCP server running so you shouldn't have to do any more after that. If you know it doesn't or your Xbox is not receiving an address, try entering one within the network range (defined by the subnet mask) or assigning one (static address allocation) in your router's config.

What is your network like? You probably have a router with DHCP, so you shouldn't have to do anything.

You can tell whether it has DHCP or not simply by plugging something into it, or connecting to it wirelessly, and seeing whether or not it has a connection (try going on the internet).

Considering he doesn't know how to write properly, I doubt he knows how to access his routers info and view the DHCP list.....

If you're talking about a password to connect to your wireless router, yeah, you'll still need that.

Also, if you did check the settings on your computer and enter them in your XBox, you can't use the same IP address. The computer's IP address will have four numbers in it separated by periods (probably something like 192.168.1.2 or something like that) and you'll have to change that last number. Just adding 1 to it usually works.
