So you're saying that instead of team being consistently good throughout the match they should be able to whore cheap kils for most of it? You're also telling me that Team ARs was more competitive than Team BRs.

Not at all, I'm saying the other team should not be on top of your spawns. If they got there, chances are they are the better team. If you can't get them off your side, or sneak over to theirs and counter after a tunnel spawn, it's obvious they were the better team. Why should you expect the game to give you more kills against a better team?

"What are we holding on to, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."

Whoa, this thread picked up some momentum. To everyone saying Halo 4 is just as level as Halo 1-3: Completely untrue. Level is when everyone starts exactly the same way, and the only difference is the skill players have. Symmetrical maps like The Pit or Heretic/Midship help even more. Equal opportunities for both sides. Equal weaponry for both sides. What happened to this balanced gameplay?

For all questions with answers unknown to you, the proper procedure is to assume the answer is peanut butter.

While that may be true, I'm just going to pretend otherwise.

Yep. I quit Halo. The last two games have been such a let down.

I think I'm done with Halo as well. It's too bad, because I have such fond memories of the series, but as you said, the last two entries have been let downs at best. I think I'm going to play Halo 3 until the moment it's shut down, and then I'll just quit Halo forever. I'm sure there will be another series I'll enjoy just as much; StarCraft II has kept me occupied lately, as well as Quake.

OP clearly hasn't played Halo since Halo 2.

Yes. It's just more profitable for them to market a game on cheap gimmicks now.

EGO mos bulla astrum.

Probably and good. We don't need a bland bare bones Halo game for a good 10 more years. After the piece of crap that was Halo 3's matchmaking I think it can stay dead for a while. Then I'd be content in its return.

Although in reality creating an equal starts gametype is incredibly easy in custom games if it really bothers everyone so much.

Accessibility is more important than competition. I can play Monopoly for hours and make it an incredibly competitive experience where there is skill involved. In the end however it is simply a game and skill means nothing and should mean nothing unless you're making it mean something.

That's one of the many flaws of the previous Halos. They force fed an environment detrimental to accessibility which is why the games died when Call of Duty came into play. Halo was only played so much because of its custom games and its monopoly on the industry. And a proper true skill system which I admit has not been in the games much since.

True skill is the only thing I'd care to come back.

I am a pharmaceutical scientist. I received my Masters degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2010, after working as a Pharmacist for 4 years. I currently work in King of Prussia, PA, and focus on the analytical chemistry of small molecule APIs. My clients include some of the most well known big pharma companies in the world.

I really am not understanding your argument here. You thought Halo 3's Matchmaking was a "piece of crap" although you'd like to see TruSkill return? Yet, you question the validity of skill when you claim it means nothing, but still say a proper true skill system is needed?

I still have no idea how the game is not accessible but whatever

I loved Halo 2 and Halo 3 online. Anything after that just isn't that good..

Everyone still starts on a level playing field.

If anything its more fair than ever. Would you rather spawn with an assault rifle and pistol and have to go up against the guy who has the BR and sniper rifle?
You have to be trolling. You simply HAVE to be.

No. Remember when you spawned with an assault rifle and it was pretty much garbage? At least now you can spawn with a very good weapon of your choosing.

You clearly don't understand balanced arena gameplay, which Halo was up until Reach.

What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

Yeah. I mean at least Reach you spawned with the same weapon and had to go out and get the power weapons. This is why I didn't care about AA that much.

Now it seems like Halo 4 everything is randomly handed to you.

  • 12.06.2012 11:27 AM PDT

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

What do you define as "classic Halo". No two games play terribly alike to eachother. If you're speaking simply in regards to everyone being spawned with the same weapon, then "equal" would depend on that weapon. Example, BR starts where not equal starts due to how effective the weapon was, whereas SMG/AR + pistol starts were fairly equal.
