The Storm or lack for a better phrase, is all the people that will be joining this great community.

Now I have a feeling many people on this site may be dreading that moment when they come.

They'll ask questions, they might not obey the forum rules right away probably because they won't read them, and many other things that may happen when they come.

Some of you are like myself and I know for a fact Bungie Is. We are very excited about this happening. Its going to become a new era and they are ready for it.

So the main point of this is to not make you do something, but for you to consider something. Like I said these people are new, and they don't know the forums like we do.

So what I want you to consider is to welcome them and be patient with them. Show them and the world of gaming communites that we are the best there is and we care for the new.

Now how do we do this?

1.We are patient with them. Remember they haven't been on here like some of us.

2.We answer all their questions no matter what they may be or how simple they may be.

3.We direct them to the right places or to the right people.
Either by telling them or linking the place they need to go in our replies.

4.Make sure you try to answer all questions. If you answer one question they may have another, so make sure you answer that, If not it could lead to another thread if its missed.

5. We Make Sure to encourage everyone new to read the rules.
This is very important.

6. a user mentioned to lead by example. This is simple and known, but very important.

7. Also remember that while we help, let them do and learn and help when you feel is right. They'll learn best by doing. But still answer questions if anyone has them.

Another thing I would like to stress and see older members do and this is number 3 of things to do above.

Is When A new member may post something in the forum and you know it isn't right or belongs in another forum. Don't just say "Wrong forum" But instead tell them which forum or even website it belongs in and also if you can link the forum or website it does belong in.

So many times I have a feeling we leave members who don't know where to post in the dark with the feeling of "Ok so I posted in the wrong forum, but now where do I go or post this in?" We can change that and help them with that right away.

I know many of you do this already, but its just another reminder of something simple we can do to help make the forums a better experience for everyone.

Bungie has done a great job of putting things in view, but still people don't always read what they need to read to make the experience here better for all.

Another thing we must do is Help the Forum Ninjas they are not here all the time and are volunteers. We the people who have been on this site for awhile must not do something stupid so we can make it easier for them during this time.

How do we do that?

1. Report what is needed to be reported.

2. If we have to message them about a problem.

3. Tell the new members the forum ninjas aren't their all the time and not to spam the report button.

Well pretty much everything that I stated above.

Now Bungie may already be planning how to help and controle the people that will be joining in the coming months and years.

But as a community we must try to make this easier for them By helping how little we can and doing these simple things.

We must conduct ourselves in a proper way. Don't make them deal with us when they have many other things to deal with. Like I said even if we can't do a lot lets still try to make it easier for them.

So get ready community this may not be easy, but lets welcome everyone who comes here that sees the light getting brighter. Lets welcome them and make this new experience the best that we can possibly make it for them.

(Also if you have anything else we could do to help in anyway pleas post here and I will edit my post with your suggestions so that it will be easier for people to read it here. Also feel free to DM with any questions or suggestions you may have.)

Please everyone remember this thread is here to help people get ready for the exciting times ahead.. In no way do I want this to be a place to argue about something and prove someone wrong. If you can discuss it in a fair way Please do so.

A storm is coming? Oh -blam!-!

  • 12.06.2012 2:25 PM PDT

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

And they will march just as they have done for centuries, ever since the emperor penguin decided to stay, to live and love in the harshest place on Earth.

If DeeJ doesn't get together with some artists and makes a cool intro video to Bungie.net that explains some basic rules, the web team, the forums, and how ninjas work, I refuse to treat the newbies well.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I think we should get knighted

The community could take that off their hands and do it right. Sure, we might indoctrinate the new ones into the ways of being grey, but it will all be for the best.

I also feel like I should expand on my first post but have no time: cycle, penguins, Internet. That is all.

For the newcomers this is a helpful prompt. It has been calm for a long time now.

This actually sounds like a really good idea. I'm sure new members would be much more willing to watch a video than read through the rules. Downside is that it would overshadow the written rules, and then nobody would read them.

Refusing to treat Newbies well will hurt you more than them.

I am not sure how to back that threat up, but I am at my most dangerous when cornered and at a loss for solutions.

Beware.

Were you not treated politely when you joined here?
It would be wise to treat newcomers kindly to set a good example.

Beware.
Ball's in your court. You can either go for the easy lay-up, the high-risk three, or punt the ball 20 yards over the net and see how many points that gets you.

Also, for the record, I'm joking, of course.

I know, Z. I don't really threaten people when they step out of line. I just put their name on a list and enter a dark cave to conspire against them.
