I absolutely hate new members. I'm completely serious when I say I discriminate new members. They don't read the rules, they make rule breaking threads, they act completely immature, and what's worse, because The Flood is filled with them they all join in! It's very disappointing when I have to create two alts to help report a rule breaking thread just because The Flood decides to play a false prophet and post their opinions in it instead of reporting it. The funny thing is, it's always the new members that start it.

When you first join Bungie.net, there should be a probation period where when you post, it has to be reviewed first before it becomes visible to the public. It would cut down on all the rule breaking crap that newbies try to shove into the forums when we already have enough problems as it is.

One suggestion is to make a thread that explains all of the simple things new people can miss, like quotes or the text formats or Coup etc.

A "welcome to Bungie.net thread", cool

Sounds Good to me anybody want to help work on it or have any suggestions on how to do it to make it as simple as possible?

I say we wait till Destiny is revealed before we make it, I would love to make it or help on it.

sounds like a good idea. Would you like to dm me to get some ideas together when you have a chance? I'd like to help so one person doesn't have to do everything by themselves

I knew I wasn't the only concerned with the new members. I think it is really important that we look after the new members and try our best to guide them. You can't help everyone, but you can help some and that's all that matters.

exactly.. I understand it's hard to help everyone one, but when you start helping someone, they'll see it and other people will see so in turn they will help others and it will just keep going.

Yay!

I agree with you. We should be nice to the new ones when they come. But can't we have a little fun?

Even better, and introduction forum.

Only if there was an influx of thousands of posters all wanting to post at the same time. By having maybe one Forum Ninja do the work, and have him work slow at doing it, it would teach the noobies a valuable lesson in Forum Posting: LURK FIRST. The point is, if we just let these new members off the leash to post whatever they want it, they're going to turn the forums into a mad house. I love posting on The Flood, but I don't want it to be degraded into a worse state then it's already in.

I'm sorry, but I'm not able to look at new members with excitement. My Justice isn't blind. Yes, I have private groups, and yes I can report. But as I said earlier, I enjoy posting on The Flood, but they have a habit of not reporting rule breaking posts/threads unless it's a shock image.

Your system is flawed because you have no idea the rate at which new users post on the Flood. Also, during night hours for the US, if Qbee or daza weren't online, nobody would have posts approved.

Your system is bad and you should feel bad.

Don't worry, he's still conspiring against the mythics. You've got some time until he targets you. Start building a fortress, it will defend you from the ninjas.

I took no Ninja's being on into account. If they're not being approved, it gives the newbies more time to LURK MORE. They need to LURK, something that new posters have a habit of not doing.

And God damn it, stop putting that Copyright symbol in the bottom. It's annoying having to delete it just so everything in my post looks smooth.

LOL you're mad about a character in a post. Anyway, this would just discourage people from posting or visiting the site altogether. It's still a terrible idea.

This is a terrible idea. If new users have to wait hours (or more likely days) for their posts to show up, it's not going to make them want to stick around. That might sound like a good thing to you, but it would make Bungie look bad to new people and it would hurt their business endeavors in the long run.

Yes, new users will probably break a lot of rules at first and be annoying, but the best solution is to try and be patient with them, not do everything in your power to make them say "screw this, I'm done with Bungie and their stuff."

If you can't deal with that, if new users bother you that badly, then perhaps it would be best if you just take a break for a few months once they start showing up.

Of course have fun in no way am I saying you can't. just make sure you welcome them and help them with the right amount of fun.

this site is about having fun and talking and discussing lets now take that away from anyone.

I think your idea may frustrate new users more. Your correct they may not wait or read the rules first, but we can't just take that privilege away from them.

They have to learn and the only way they will learn is by taking the time to do it. Now that is where we come in by helping them they will learn faster, but if we get mad or just tell them wrong forum bro how are they going to learn?

We can't under estimate them either.

Also by using a ninja we would need a veteran one and all of them are veterans, so we can't just take them away from where they are need most.

Yes if this idea could be perfect and made to work in a few minutes then it would work. But the time it would take would again discourage users from posting and even make them leave because they would feel like they can't do what the site was made for them to do.

Maybe someday this could work and no way do I want to shoot your idea down, but for right now its not the time.

If DeeJ doesn't get together with some artists and makes a cool intro video to Bungie.net that explains some basic rules, the web team, the forums, and how ninjas work, I refuse to treat the newbies well.

Refusing to treat Newbies well will hurt you more than them.

I am not sure how to back that threat up, but I am at my most dangerous when cornered and at a loss for solutions.

Beware.
Ball's in your court. You can either go for the easy lay-up, the high-risk three, or punt the ball 20 yards over the net and see how many points that gets you.

Also, for the record, I'm joking, of course.
