All these ideas so far are great and all, but in the end we know the real fans will stay and add numbers to those already cemented here as fans of Bungie and the rest of those only caught up in the hype will be gone after a year or two.

Safe to say, I think anyone who spends a small portion of their time on these forums knows to tell the difference between the helpful from the not-so-helpful.

Anyway, can't wait for greenhorns to show up.

I agree with you.. in a way
But just because someone may leave in a year a two doesn't mean we can't make them feel welcomed. If we try to help a little those two years will be a great time and could lead to them staying as true fans. it will also make the next two years run smoother and better for you and me and for Bungie.

Games and game studios will always have their superficial and dedicated fans, but as far as things go I think Bungie definitely has one of the best communities. Especially the way they interact with the fan base. However I wouldn't expect them 'Rookies' to be out of the picture after the second year. If the game is any where near as successful as previous titles, then people will still be posting and playing well into the run up to the next game. Hell there is even that 'Comet' dlc to keep things going.

As far as prep goes for the new kids I think things will work out. We'll be more active than ever, We'll be there to pick up on any problems, We'll be there to help out, We'll be there to keep the legends going (and the myths).

When someone does something they shouldn't be....We'll be there
When someones cat is stuck up a tree.............We'll be there
When the world needs us.........We'll....be....there.
(Ahem)
Sorry got carried away.
Bring on the newbies

Rain, and Jazz.
Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

Hey, you know what is a phrase that has drifted out of use since the last game?

"Proof or it didn't happen."

Yeah it kinda has... I would say don't shove it down someones throat though if something doesn't seem legit.

They have to learn by experience, i created a profile about 3 years ago and probably got banned 3 or 4 times for 3 to 8 days. The profile i created in January (because i finally got xbox live) has not been banned and the last warning i received was four months ago.

I agree and thats really good and important.
It's always nice having people to be around though who will help them through it too if they have questions. Makes the experience even better, but again I agree they have to learn too through doing.

Lurking these forums, rest assured that I'm silently judging you.

At least until Destiny.

This wasn't the procedure for newbies beforehand ?
Surely, the Bungie community doesn't need a guide on how to introduce new members to the forums, right ?
RIGHT ?

There is a lot of things I don't understand about the way this place works...

its something everyone should definitely do all the time... But during the time of a new game it's very important because we need to make them feel welcome so they stay around and there is going to be a lot more then the average day. So yes people know this, but its good to be reminded for an important time that is coming.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I don't think any storm is coming for a long time

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

We don't need that type of negativity here. If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Just an average Iowa State University student. Go Cyclones!

I like this. I think most of the people here now would be happy to help the newbies. And they'll figure out some stuff on their own too. I started logging on consistently just before this year's Bungie Day, and I've found my way around okay.

Of course, I still don't understand everything. Like what the heck is wet noodle?

DEEDLE LEEDLE LEEDLE DEEEEE

It sounds like we're about to welcome new medical residents into our hospital. Anybody still watch Scrubs? I sure do, oh right off topic!

I think you're right, as the old and faithful Bungie community members, we have an obligation to welcome the newbies in with open arms, and open hearts. I, personally, cannot wait to do so.

Edit: You made a great thread OP.

I'm pretty sure the influx of new users will know how to handle themselves. For many it's not going to be their first time on a forum or the Internet, thus they don't have to wear bib and have their hand held when crossing between two forums, here.

yeah i'm sure people will, but there is always some who won't. I'm not saying you need to hold their hands. But I encourage you if someone needs help, to help them. That is all.

Awesome, you just took everyone's special feeling of how we may all be the big-shot know-it-all kind of people, and you squashed it. You squashed it sir, I hope you are proud of yourself.

awesome thanks man for your support!

No problem, you made a lot of really good points and deserve recognition!
