Subject: Who's the one who said Halo 4 didn't need a beta?

Of all games released in the past decade, Halo 4 needed a beta the most.

Anyone else think so?

Nope.

Nope. Because you guys would have ruined it just like the Halo community ruined Reach during the beta. The only good that could've come from it was bug fixes. They DID have a beta, just not a public one.

Of course I meant a public beta. Did I have to mention that?

Nope. Open betas are nothing but publicity stunts. It's not like Halo 4's problems would've been magically solved with a Beta, we'd just have had more whining on the forums, and a few more glitches in the game.

I know you did... I wasn't implying you didn't. Just pointing out that they did plenty of beta testing so a public beta was unnecessary.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

Playlists would have been refined, and map feedback could have enabled 343 to include better maps for matchmaking.

Halo 4 didn't need a public beta. Don't like it, don't play it. Simple.

You're wrong OP. Halo 4 needed several Betas.

Currently studying Computer Science & Software engineering. Hope to work on mobile devices of the future! When a certain game's credits roll, look out for my name! ;)

You will -blam!- bricks when you see what game it is! =)

A game does not simply go from alpha to gamma. there is ALWAYS a beta.

In Halo 4's case, the beta was exclusively internal. I got to work with it, and believe me, it wasnt pretty.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

I think it would have been cool to play a beta, but I dont think it was necessary, the whole point in Halo 4 not having a beta is that it was meant to be a surprise to Halo fans to show that 343i are in it for the long haul.

Planetside 2's were mostly solved...
Beta's that come out 3 weeks before release are the publicity stunts.

Not enough, obviously. Laggy servers, unbalanced weapons, no map control, glitches, OP armour abilities, vehicles are useless.

Halo 4 had a Beta, you just were not invited because it was private.

Not the best logic, a beta would let you know (for free) if you liked playing the game. Not everyone can buy a game just to see if they like it.

Just remember that no matter how terrible you feel, or how much you want to let go, there are people who care about you and love you.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

People still say this with a straight face? Impressive.

Nobody cares about anyone else's opinion - be it mine, yours, or a cult of angry star wars nerds - when they are enjoying what they enjoy.

Everyone cares about opinions, that's why we socialize on a forum with strangers.

1) The game did have a beta. It just wasn't a public beta.

2) I can think of many other games that needed a beta more than Halo 4. The 2010 Medal of Honor comes to mind.

Stop over-reacting. Halo 4 was not that bad. If you don't like it, fine, that's your opinion, but it was not the worst game evar. I swear, kids these days...

A public beta would have solved or gotten a jumpstart on solving the lag issues, broken kill cams, weapon balancing, etc. that they're just now fixing.

Reach Beta > Crap > Final Product.

Lest we forget that during the beta, the plasma launcher was OP, you'd lose your shields and freeze up when melee'ing someone in armor lock, and you couldn't edit your screenshots. These would have made it into the final release. Betas are always beneficial, no matter what the vocal minority makes you think.
