Subject: British royaity (arguments against)?

TH3 L3G3ND of Halo.

I'm a walking paradox.

I don't understand why the people of England need to pay 100 million a year to the royal family. What makes them deserve this amount of money ? We live in the 21st century , not medieval times. 100 million could go for something much better in need in the country of England. Being born into wealth for doing nothing what so ever, is ridiculous. So why do the British people keep supporting this waste "family". And people who say they bring tourism profit, are obviously mistaken. Impossible to track the amount of money. Why would someone travel across the world to go see their mansion. It's not like the queen is cutting her grass in front of her mansion waving to the tourist.

So British people why keep them ?

I'll bring the tritium laser cutters if you bring the beer!

Funny story.

Royal families are like state museums, they attract a lot of tourists.

It's common knowledge. How old are you?

Recon Number 54 -
If they are still looking, then while holding the snarl, I let drool start to drip from my mouth, I stand, curl my fingers into claws and with a hunched over crouch, I then make slow and deliberate steps towards them. When I get close enough, I let them hear my agonized and gasping growls and then, if they continue to stare, when I get within arm's reach? I kiss them on the nose, and run away giggling.

We are one of the few places left with a long reigning Monarchy, they don't interfere with any political decisions and play a largely ceremonial role as head of state.

They earn money for the UK from private land revenue they donate and all the tourists and events that revolve around them.

Besides another £100 million wasted on benefits for people who don't need them? Or more expenses for the government? It is far better spent keeping a royal family than wasted on other people.

I find it amusing that people get so worked up over the Royal Family. It is like a pleasant reality tv show, without all the filth that normally comes with them.

You do have a choice. Quit funding them, and the amount of attention. Get the prime minister to do something.

I think they generate their worth in tourism to offset their salaries.

Anyone who goes to England to see that family of useless stuck up prats should be hung by their testicles.

Because that's pretty much the only reason those idiots are kept around.

someone will probably make an argument against this, but i don't care about that; this is my position.

I enjoy halo for it's story and when I am in the mood, its gameplay. Reach was significantly worse then I expected but was still a great game (minus the european hitscan fiasco). I am sitting on a two mile wide fence on the subject of halo 4. Most of the things I like a technical aspects though and not story or game play. Plus I am slightly mad they took my elites from MP.

Hereditary monarchy is unfair and elitist. They claim that in a modern and democratic society no one should be expected to defer to another simply because of their birth.

It's a symbol.

Take the Japanese imperial family for example, it's been around since 660 BC. What good would it do them to throw out a 240 century old tradition that doesn't do anyone any harm?

Your symbol

The British monarchy is religiously discriminatory
Due to the history in Great Britain of religious conflict, it is law that Roman Catholics may not inherit the Crown. It is argued that having an Anglican head of state is unrepresentative of a nation where 4% of adults are practising Anglicans.

I am...whimsical today.

I can't bring any figures into this as I don't really know any, but I think the amount I pay to 'keep the royals' per year is worth it.

I don't agree with monarchistic governments on principle, but that's not what the UK royal family is. If anything they're a tradition, a historical institution. I think that's worth paying a little bit to, personally.
