because based on economics, it's not a very wise decision.

How can you say this when the US healthcare system is the most expensive, and produces some of the worst results per dollar vs most modern countries, many of which have socialized medicine?

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

Explain, because based on economics, it's not a very wise decision.
I am very nearly at the end of a college degree in Economics. Explain why Economics dictates that socialised healthcare is a bad thing, and then rationalise that against the empirical realities of healthcare quality in the US (both raw and per $ spent) compared to other countries which have socialised systems (just so you know, US healthcare provision is empirically worse)

It's not economically a wise decision- or morally to not have healthcare that is accessible to everyone.

Prove how it isn't a wise decision. You provide NO proof for your claim. Canada has it and they're doing fantastic. Explain that, retard.

We actually have an incredibly high success rate, which is due to the fact that it's expensive. There's more money circulating in the system and it shows. Healthcare is readily available for anyone who can afford it.

Actually, 1/3 of what is spent on healthcare is wasteful spending because it is through tests that hospitals can charge massive amounts to insurance companies-

One of the reasons why insurance companies are hiring doctors and nurses and focusing more on promoting preventive healthcare than just fixing broken people.

Money doesn't grow on trees. I support socialized healthcare, but not right now. The nation needs to be fixed before that. At the moment, we don't have the money for it.

No one should ever be afraid of looking stupid, so long as they are making a rational effort to expand their understanding.

I used to have an opinion on this, but not any longer. I value people over money, so I guess it is a good thing.

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

What the -blam!- do you mean by "morally"?

Morals are subjective anyway.

Oh the irony, the guy who thinks we should keep healthcare only accessible to a few just to drop wait times is calling other people idiots.

So you think we should turn down healthcare because they have no money?

Grow up kiddy.

  • 12.06.2012 4:24 PM PDT

Well... the law says doctors cannot turn away a patient in need of emergency care. So whenever somebody without healthcare, that isn't paying for it, goes in- they get treated. Who pays for that? Everybody else through taxes, which means they got it for free and that money doesn't go to something else that would be more useful.

... Making everybody pay for it so everybody gets it doesn't seem like a bad thing when you put it that way. Just seems like you're finally making the other people pay for their share.

Sure because it's totally possible to be 100% unbiased in an article. ONE article.

I wasn't going to participate in this thread, but your comment just called to me. Why on earth was that very last word even necessary? You could have had a perfectly logical argument and never resorted to name calling, that's just childish.

If you're going to argue, argue like an adult.

Anywho, Pros and Cons.

Oh the irony, the guy who thinks we should keep healthcare only accessible to a few just to drop wait times is calling other people idiots.

People die waiting for those surgeries and resources, and the quality is horrible. So yes, you're an idiot. You don't even have an argument.

The quality is not horrible by any means.

I can't believe you are stupid enough to even suggest this.

More people die from not being able to afford healthcare than because they are on a waiting list.

I can't argue against an opinion that has no factual basis.
