If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

Because it increase the health of those who otherwise could not afford extensive health care.

It's funny how you people don't get America. We live among some of the laziest and -blam!-iest. In a collective system, their failures directly lower the standard of said system. Ergo, all of us have to pay for the wrongs of others.

That's inherently wrong.

It's inherently wrong to deny health care.

Just so people know, it's halomaster.

You're already paying for people that don't have healthcare. Pay into a common pool, and that cost could go down.

I don't know though. I like to support socialized healthcare like the UK, but I'm not versed enough in govt to debate it.

Economics aside, I think everyone deserves to get proper care. When they get hurt/sick, their first thought shouldn't be "can I afford this?"

Why should I have to pay for someone elses medical bills?

If you cant afford something, you shouldnt get it

Wow. Americans truly are selfish, but I saw it coming. Here in Mexico medicine is very cheap, mainly because everyone is "paying" for it with their work.

In fact, the US is rated as one of the worst developed countries for social, health, and economic inequality. You need an example of why socialized health care is a good thing, take a look at Norway, Sweden, The Netherlands, etc. All first world countries with low social stratification, has the least inequality, and ranks in the top 5 consistently for healthcare.

Because its morally fair and reasonable. People pay taxes that pay towards things that they don't actually utilize, so should that be changed as well?

In England (and New Zealand where I currently live) you don't have to worry about getting injured or sick. Because why should you? I view it as something similar to an insurance policy, you pay into all the time and when you need it in those few moments it is there for you.

I honestly can't understand why people can think a socialized healthcare system can be a bad thing. It almost certainly revolves around greed and the reluctance to lose money on something that they don't benefit from right there and then.

Also known as being selfish.

Signatures are for little kids.

I agree. Why spend money on health care when there are tanks and bombs to spend money on?

Hi! How you doin'?

Sometimes, all you need are a couple giant explosions to get you through the day.

It's probably a better Idea to do a thorough analysis as to why our health care system is supposedly doing so poorly, instead of immediately sounding the alarms and throwing out the system in it's entirety.

From what I've heard, people tend to misuse the 'free emergency care' system we have in place, and use it for minor things akin to 'hurr dur my kid has a stomachache wut do doc?!'. Loads of people doing that tends to use up resources rather quickly.

It's just what I've heard.

What good is having "Give me your tired, your poor/Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free" on the Statue of Liberty, and "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" on the Declaration of independence if we're not going to provide those things to our citizens?

What good is it? The good is to give the people these opportunities to attain these things. Not give it to them, regardless of how they perform.

So I assume you support cutting welfare programs? Clearly those people couldn't make anything of the opportunities we afforded them.

As we've discussed previously, that seems to be a Canadian problem - not a problem with socialized healthcare. They are unable to get enough doctors, nurses, etc, to support the demand.

Fine, but too much government involvement is bad. Government should protect us from foreign threats, enforce the laws defined by our congress and supported by our supreme court. They should not not have their hand in every aspect (or most of them) of our lives.
