(Nevermind.)

What everyone forgets is that when the original Star Wars movies came out, they were designed with the prequels in mind. Just look at the titles:

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

As you can see, the originals are labeled 4-6. Now, imagine if Lucas would have taken the advice of people who hate the sequels and wish they had never been made. 100 years in the future, Star Wars is a cinematic classic, and...

"Where are 1, 2, and 3?"

See the problem? Lucas started right with IV. Which means that there has to be a I, II, and III.

Agree?

No he didn't, it was originally just called "Star Wars." He didn't add the subtitles and episodes until later.

~Like a silent whisper in the winds of an empty night

Just because there may have been a necessity for them to exist (assuming there was), doesn't mean they had to be so poorly acted, directed, and written.

I don't get all the hate on the prequels. What's wrong with them?

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

No.

The idea was to call back to the adventure serials from the 30's. Often times, if you missed it, your would just jump in. They had to write the episodes so each would tell enough that you knew what was going on.

Am I the only person who stopped after Episode I and didn't watch the rest of the prequels?

This is more succinct.

I actually liked the prequels, though. They had their drawbacks, but they weren't nearly as bad as people say they are.

No they most certainly did not HAVE to be made and unfortunately they were made. Now Disney is going to make sequels to Jedi as well? ugh...

Even if the prequels "had to be made", they should have been done in a much better fashion. The storyline, battles, acting, etc. were all godawful and just lacking in any good cinematography.
