So what?

If i want to lock my thread, why shouldn't I, even if it is just because it isn't going my way?

When you open up your thoughts to the community, it becomes a community issue. You (anyone that isn't a mod) shouldn't have the right to silence someone just because you don't care what they have to say. Everyone should have their voice, even though sometimes I would agree they should be silenced.

If you want the discussion to continue, you can make another thread.

I don't get it.. why would you want to lock it in the first place then?

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Threads do not "belong" to the OP. A user here has control over the content of his or her own posts, but not the thread in which they are posted. And that includes OPs.

While users here frequently refer to "my thread," it's really a misnomer. It would be more correct to say "my OP" or "the thread I created." Don't let the colloqualism fool you into a sense of control. You cannot lock threads that you create for the same reason that you cannot edit other users' posts.

"You have no rights. Play nice."

Now where have I heard that...

"Only a fool dismisses something outside of his realm of experience as an impossibility"

I remember the answer was posted a while back. It's because Bungie.net gives certain users the ability to lock a thread via permissions. If you give one 'Member' the permission to lock a thread, then all members can.

Or something like that anyway...

Trussingdoor is pretty kewl. He fires lasers and doesn't afraid of anything.

Bad idea. People would find ways to abuse it, and idiots would just lock as soon as someone disagrees.
