In-game I've observed marraiges between different species. Do they produce offspring? I've never read the Elder Scrolls books, is there anything in the canon relating to this?

I'm an Imperial and I married a Dunmer. We are happy with our adopted children, but we'd also like a couple of children sprung from our own powerful loins. We're worried that the attempt might result in horrible birth defects and deformities.

We welcome the advice of any practicing physicians/healers/shamans/priests & priestesses/orcish midwives, but please, we'd like to see your certification first.

I've got a fan!

Different species can't interbreed, so it really just comes down to whether the races are totally different species.

They call me graland.

Humans and elves can, but Kajiits and Argonians are too different for it to work.

I don't need no stinking signature!

I heard somewhere that any sentient races can mate, but the offspring is always the species of the mother. Cuz magic.

Well they're called 'races' and not 'species' so interbreeding is technically possible. The lack of attraction and good old fashioned xenophobia is why in the lore sense it wouldn't happen, and the inability to make stats for all the possibilities is why it doesn't happen from a gameplay perspective.

The human element always mucks things up.

All elves and humans can make teh babbies but sadly the khajiits and argonians can only get action from their own kind.

Hmmmm. So our children would be dark elves. Well, that's not exactly a bad thing.

I don't think they are big on the use of scientific definitions in the Elder Scrolls universe. Much less in video gaming.

Due to their vast differences, we can safely assume that Khajits and Argonians are not biologically compatible with any of the more Human looking species.

But I read a piece of lore that said that Wood Elves descended from the Khajit. I think the beast peoples were in Tamriel before the other races, so it's a possibility that all elves descended from the beast peoples. Perhaps they can breed. Hmmmm, this is just speculation of course.

Contrary to popular belief, all races can potentially mate. The offspring will just be whatever the race of the female is.

How do you ask? Well, when a mommy Slaughterfish and a daddy Skeaver love each other very much....

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter how much Daddy Mammoth and Mother Rabbit love each other....

Wouldn't an Orc fall under the category of elf though?

Different species can't produce viable offspring. That's literally one of the biggest defining points between species

How does being half-vampire work?

Technically, vampirism is a disease you can catch in Elder Scrolls. It probably doesn't kill you, it just enhances you while inflicting some weaknesses. You can probably still pro-create as a vampire as long you didn't die and become a vampire.

I am a monument to all your sins

Elves and humans make Bretons, but I doubt a human could mate with an argonian or kajiit. I'm not sure about Orcs, but I doubt it.

EDIT: apparently there is a half-orc in Oblivion

I don't think any sort of "enhancement" kicks in until you actually progress into a vampire. Before that point, it's just a disease with no positive effects.
