Isn't one of the Orc NPCs in Oblivion a half human/half orc hybrid?
Yes, and also half Vampire.
How does being half-vampire work?
Technically, vampirism is a disease you can catch in Elder Scrolls. It probably doesn't kill you, it just enhances you while inflicting some weaknesses. You can probably still pro-create as a vampire as long you didn't die and become a vampire.
I don't think any sort of "enhancement" kicks in until you actually progress into a vampire. Before that point, it's just a disease with no positive effects.
My case still stands: you're still a living, organic being.

The things that gets me is the blood drinking thing is so central to vampirism. Even before vampirism kicks in fully, you feel a craving for blood. So would a half-vampire constantly crave blood or not?

There is actually a book on this in game.

It says basically the same thing people are saying here.

Elves can mate with Humans and produce offspring although this tends not to happen due to traditions and such.

For the beast races and Orcs however, no known example of a hybrid child has been seen, probably due to the embarassment of the mother.

That...is actually a good question. I have no idea, although when doing the quest in Oblivion for the Grey Prince, he doesn't discover he is half vampire until you deliver the journal that tells him, meaning he must never have had the craving for blood before that point.

I'm an Imperial and I married a Dunmer. We are happy with our adopted children, but we'd also like a couple of children sprung from our own powerful loins. We're worried that the attempt might result in horrible birth defects and deformities.

We welcome the advice of any practicing physicians/healers/shamans/priests & priestesses/orcish midwives, but please, we'd like to see your certification first.

I hate people that talk about fake things as if they're real. Even if you're kidding I still hate you, OP.

Sounds like a placebo effect.

Probably not, seeing how the Grey Prince has never said anything about it. Some people in real life have to drink blood actually... maybe an iron-deficiency?

Well, i'm guessing he never got it anyway. It never implied it in the game afterwards, since all he really cared to do after finding that out was to die.

Real life is a whole different story...and there are two kinds in real life. The kind that drink blood, and "psychic" vampires.

But in oblivion the Half-Blood Prince is an Orc who had an Orc mother and a Imperial (vampire) father...

  • 12.06.2012 10:07 PM PDT

In Elder Scrolls universe, I fairly sure inter-species relations can happen, and when it does, the offspring is always the mother's race. Bretons came about over time between relations with High Elves and the Nedic peoples populating the northern region.

The Gray Prince is an example of this in Oblivion. His mother is an Orc, father was an (imperial?). He was born an Orc, abet with some Vampiric traits from his father, but no racial features were passed down that were non-orc.

Without The Flood, I wouldn't know what an opinion is.

There's probably a mod for it.

I believe it's decided by the species of the mother.

I understand. I read all of The Argonian Account, and it seems that Black Marsh isn't a very fertile place for structured... well, for structured anything.
