Yeah, I like me some Zelda.

Long story short is I'm in need of a new laptop. I need it for everyday uses, school work, and I'd love for it to be able to run some newer games on it. The problem is I don't know very much about computers, nor the specs needed to run games on them. I have about a $1,000 budget, so the cheaper the better. Can anyone tell me what to look for when purchasing one?

When I say I'd like to play some new games I'm not referring to running a game on max settings, but having the ability to run a modern game with a decent frame rate.

But they're haunting me in my dreams
Please, break my shackles, I want it to stop

Sergeant Explosion and The Quiet Day in London.

I saw a Lenovo at Best Buy for about $600 with an i5 and 6GB RAM+ 750GB HDD.

A real test of a man is if he is willing to scrape a sharpened razor up and down his junk just to please a woman.

I got a Pavilion dv6 a couple years ago with 4 gigs of RAM, an AMD 5650 HD Mobility card and a 1.6gh processor for more than $1000, and let me tell you that that was a big mistake, because I know for a fact that I could have built my own desktop for cheaper. This computer isn't even that -blam!- good, for a THOUSAND dollars. I'm thinking of upgrading it (Pavilion can luckly be upgraded even though it's a laptop) because it can't even run Deus Ex: HR on medium without some framerage problems.

Why do you need a tricked out laptop? I've only played games on it outside of my house at my college, but I could have just done something else. Get a Vita or 3DS if you want mobile gaming, but get a cheap laptop just for documents, excel and the internet. For the love of God, DON'T get a gaming laptop. BUILD your own desktop, DON'T buy it premade from a company, and thank me later.

This, absolutely. This is a damn good deal, and Lenovo is reliable. That should be able to play BF3 on med-high settings at least.

I don't need a tricked out laptop, but I need one for school and potentially work after I graduate. Right now I'm stuck using an outdated desktop that won't cut it for next semester. I know I have to spend around $500 for a decent computer that is mostly for everyday uses and school. However, I'm willing to spend the couple of extra hundred dollars to play some PC games. My old laptop has damages to the motherboard and will cost me the same amount as a new one. So far these suggestions have been helpful. I'm not just going to throw out my money unless I really know what I'm getting.

The Flood recommended me something called a 'Lenovo Y580.' $800 last I checked, though I think it's $850 now. Apparently it's really good- especially for that price.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.” – Psalms 46:1-3
