Subject: Is political bias allowed in the classroom?

Im a sophomore in high school and i am taking a Modern American Issues class, and this class is heavily biased. Politically, the class is split evenly: 6 Democrats, 6 Republicans, and 1 communist (that's me, according to some online political compass test we all took.) But there is 1 problem, the teacher is Democratic. This would normally be fine, but it is a problem when every -blam!- video or movie we watch as a class is made by a Democratic or Liberal filmmaker and is favorable in their views. And during open class discussions, he goes harder on the republican students for simply stating their opinion and questions them repeatedly, hoping to make them appear stupid. But when a Democrat voices their opinion, he'll state "I agree blah blah blah...". I live in MA (a democratic state) but i was wondering, is this -blam!- even legal?

I'm unfamiliar with the laws of 'MA', wherever it is, so I wouldn't know.

Gather around the campfire, once it goes out, it's out for good.

Your teacher's only preparing students for the real world.

Well, if you give a liberal person and a conservative person an article, and then have them rate that article for bias, the people will all say that the article is biased towards the opposite group.

Are you sure the teacher is the problem?

If you had an electron microscope, you still couldn't find the -blam!- I don't give.

you should agree with the 'republicans' in your class one day, and when the teacher give you -blam!-, start spouting off Marxist statements

EGO mos bulla astrum.

Well it seems like your teacher and the other six are the only students telling the truth in the classroom.

yes, he directly states this too and we watch michael moore films. how liberal can it get?

Political Opinions should stay out of the classroom, even if it's a Government/History class. No one should be mentioning their beliefs in the middle of a learning environment, especially when you got that kind of split with the groups of students.

Yes, it's perfectly legal. Just have fun with the class and challenge when things come up that you have a different opinion on. I had fun doing this in my class. I also learned about other's ideologies - which was interesting.

I don't need no stinking signature!

I'll need some examples, cause anything can be called 'biased.'

Bias is supposed to stay out of the classroom in terms of edicate, but the laws vary from place to place. In any event, you're in high school, so instead of complaining you'll get a lot out of it if you just go with it and embrace the challege. It'll prepare you well for the real world.

I'm also unfamiliar with the particulars of American education laws. It would probably be frowned upon, but I don't think it would be illegal.

They probably will if they mention said party's stance on teacher unions.

lolMichaelMoore that's pretty liberal. If your teacher weren't biased, he'd show multiple videos for every discussion. Say, one Michael Moore, one Glenn Beck, one Jon Stewart, and one Ron Paul.

Beta Tau

Ya my high school was very politically biased especially in my AP US Government class.

If you can, you should give your principle an anonymous tip about that. That's not education, that's brainwashing.

Its not supposed to occur but it does. My one political science professor is a socialist and its aggravating to even listen to.
