In chemistry today, we were doing a prac to compare the reactivity of Cyclo-Hexene with Cyclo-Hexane and even though all the windows were opened and it was well ventilated, I managed to take some in while walking around.

My throat feels like crap and I've been coughing ever since. Would this just be related to my Asthmaas a reaction to foreign gases or could it be a side-effect of the Bromine?
The Bromine we used was pretty concentrated though, so it wouldn't be that, would it?

Here's an idea, how about you go see a doctor?

Was the cyclo hexene more reactive than the cyclo hexane?

If my memory serves - the solution of cyclo hexene turned yellow or brownish because of the bromine.

OT: You should probably go see your chem teacher and look at the relevant material/data/safety sheet on the chemical before seeing a doctor.

That feelings from the chemicals you smelled.

In year 12 chem i took a close whiff of ammonia and i felt my smell receptors being burnt. I couldnt smell anything but ammonia for 3 days straight.

@muffin, yeah hexene would be unsaturated and have a double bond making it more prone to reactions, unlike the hexane which is saturated and has only single bonds.

Yeah, it's more reactive.
Can't say I've purposefully inhaled any chemicals this year though, too crazy.

As for the doctor comments; I've used my puffer and am waiting it out. It's 4:52PM here anyway, plus I'm busy soon regardless of whether they would be open.

Ehh, I'm not so sure about Uni anymore. I was planning on doing Nursing, but after coming to the realization that it makes me too queasy, I've been thinking of just doing a Gap year with the Navy until I work out what's what.

No, we all finish on the 19th.
Which reminds me, I should make a thread soon on people's plans for the summer.

I'm not so sure how it works for you guys, but I was in year 11 up until this term, where we started year 12.
I'll finish my HSC around September-October 2013 I think.

Fair enough, sometimes i wish i took a gap year, it really helps out a lot, you dont underestimate uni that way, and youre less likely to fail since you have your priorities sorted out
