Kid, there's a difference between trying to 'troll' and just being somebody the world would be better off without. Don't cross that line. It just makes you look like a piece of -blam!- as a person in real life rather than getting anybody particularly 'upset' or something- for whatever that would accomplish anyway.

Boo hoo, cry me a river. Over 60 million people died overall in WWII on all sides.
Russia lost 20 million people. About half of those are troops, the other half is civilians.

LOL @ people ignoring the fact this attack was an act of war and resulted in the USA joining WWII. You can pull that same 9/11 crap that it was an insignificant number of people who died, but you can't ignore the significance of the event in the big picture of things.

Did anyone ever work out why they attacked Pearl Harbour?

Was it simply because they thought the US would not allow them to build an empire in the Far East?
Back then the US was the middle east of Oil, we were the largest producer of oil in the world until around 60 I believe, when they were expanding in the far east we cut off their oil, so before they ran out of oil they attacked the US to force us to give them oil, however that would only work of they destroyed out battleships and aircraft carriers, how battleships were crippled and our aircraft carriers were not at pearl at the time, however the enterprise was close enough to launch some planes to help

Whether or not more died in one event than this one, this event brought the game changer into WW2 and tipped the balance of power in favour of the allies. This was the major event of WW2, along with the battle of stalingrad, and the dropping of the atomic bombs, that really changed the war.

Yes, there where far great tragedies all over the war, the holocaust, the torture of allied troops at the hands of the Japanese, the atomic bombs being a very sad thing America had to do, but just because more lives where lost elsewhere, it does mean that the loss of the men at pearl harbour was any less sad.

Every life lost due to that war was a waste, and deserves equal rememberance, save hitler.

Oh the Japanese were saints indeed when they slaughtered and raped 15 million Chinese civilians.

Oh lets not forget the thousands of POW's they murdered and worked to death.

This day is for remembering those lost in the Pacific theater, on any other day of course we will remember them but obviously (to smart people at least)this is a day of remembrance for the USA mostly.

Man learn some history.

To people who have knowledge of the war, they are not, they where nearly as bad as the germans, and certainly killed enough people to warrant the "bad guys" title.

Just remember no side came out of that war with clean hands, every side committed war crimes, the allies slaughtered children, who where in turn forced to fight by the axis.

There where no good guy's and bad guys, it was just two sides fighting for different things.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
-Douglas Adams

Japan had very few choices left.

"Japan was at war with China. Despite being a military superpower, their war with China was using up their resources. During that time, most of their resources especially oil were coming from the US. The US did not approve of Japanese aggression in China and they declared an embargo on Japan. This means they would stop supplying Japan with raw materials. So where would Japan get their resources to continue the war now?

The Japanese High Command carefully discussed this and came up with the conclusion that the Dutch East Indies would be the best place to gain resources. But they knew that an attack on the Dutch East Indies would probably bring the US into the war. So they had to find a way to prevent the US from fighting with them until they conquered the Dutch East Indies. That's when they planned Pearl Harbor. The goal of Pearl Harbor was to disable the American fleet for a few months to give them enough time to conquer the Dutch East Indies and to absorb its resources to finance their war in China and the US once the US' navy was rebuilt."

Pearl Harbor should have been forgiven (and forgotten) a long time ago, Hiroshima and Nagasaki should eventually be forgiven, but never forgotten.

We warned the civilians by pamphlet to leave there homes and to evacuate the area.

If we didn't bring the war to a close that way the casualty numbers for American and allied forces would have reached into the the hundreds of thousands (in the invasion of the Japanese mainland), and civilian casualty's in even greater numbers, it was a necessary evil that saved countless lives and ended a war.

"Oh lets mourn the 2400 dead soldiers, boo hoo" Oh yeah, what about nagasaki and hiroshima? Is that less of a civilian death toll? less of an importance? You americans.

Pearl harbour: 2400 dead

Nagasaki: 60,000 to 80,000
Hiroshima: 90,000 to 166,000
Total: 150,000 to 246,000(maybe more)
Not to forget the radiation poisoning and cancer that ensued.

Learn something!

I hate americans like you that are so self absorbed.

We would have had to kill more Japanese people in an invasion of Japan if we hadn't bombed them. They brought it upon themselves through their aggression and by refusing to surrender.

At the start of the war the USSR was 'part' of the axis with the no aggression pack with Germany, AND they help hitler invade Poland. They were literally part of the Allies only because of a common enemy then in German and Japan (they never forgave them for the Reso-Japanese war)

If you guys are interested in WWII, then I recommend reading a book called Unbroken.

It's a true story about a U.S soldier that was shot down in the pacific and survived on a life raft for over a month before being taken hostage by the Japanese. It's a great book and you learn about the harsh life of being a POW. The author also does a terrific job of writing about what the bombings of Japan were like for the POWs and civilians. If you are interested in WWII survival, prisoners, or just adventure overall, then you should read Unbroken.

Yeah i know, whats your point?

The Russian soldier ultimately defeated Hitler and he should be remembered and commemorated for it. They bled and died in the 20 millions to stop the Germans in there advance and ultimately capture Berlin.

They committed atrocities that is a fact but they still are the ones who won the war for the most part and i am saying that as an American. You cant blame the individual soldier for every atrocity, just like you cant blame every German soldier. They all served there country's and did what they have to do. (Excluding those who murdered and raped of course)
