You should be able to connect your xbox to the internet through a computer using a technique known as "bridging".
(Yes, this is the same thing that was used to standby in Halo 2... it has practical purposes, too.)
To do this, you need a computer with two network adapters. Either of these setups will do: 1) A PC with two ethernet ports, or 2) A PC with an ethernet port and a wifi card. (Additionally, you should be able to do this with two wifi cards... but WHY?! It'd be so terrible!)
Connect the computer to the internet (using wifi if case #2), then connect the xbox to the PC using an ethernet cable.
Follow the instructions on this page to bridge (Microsoft calls it "Sharing") your connection.
Please note: While using a connection bridged through a computer, any activity done on the computer will slow your throughput... Lag. (Originally, before throttling programs, people would use Youtube uploading to standby.) I'm telling you this as a warning. Some games, Halo included, have automatic measures in place to detect and ban players who manipulate networks to induce lag. There is a chance that, if you create lag in this way, you may be mistakenly flagged by the system.
