Sigh.. I don't even know why expected to see at least one serious answer here..

I gave a serious well-thought answer in my opinion. :(
sorry, you're right, I only noticed it after posting, you posted it while I was typing my response to that other guy :)

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

Same reason as me.

I'll get mad if somebody likes Chris Brown.
I don't dislike him because of the music he makes; I dislike him because he's a vile human being.

Some people have opinions that are bad and/or wrong and dum.
How can a taste in music be wrong?

If I don't agree with it -- it's wrong.
Sigh.. I don't even know why expected to see at least one serious answer here..

I just want to know, why on Earth would someone get legitimately mad over other person's taste in music? Because that does really happen. Where are all the people from that other thread who got trolled?

You want a serious answer? All I got is that it's just human nature to come to the defense of things you like. I can't really explain it. When people talk bad about something you like, there's something in you that just wants to fight back and "protect" it.

It's kinda like if somebody is calling your mom a whore or whatever. While a part of you realizes that you shouldn't give a -blam!- about what somebody who isn't even relevant to your life thinks, another part naturally jumps into defense mode. You know what I'm saying?
I kinda see your point there. But calling my mom a whore wouldn't be the same as saying my favorite music sucks, because it's a fact that my mom isn't a whore. Musical opinions however, are not facts.

Color The Sky
Lost In Las Vegas
Missed You

Remember all
The sadness and frustration
And let it go

Because music likes are deeply tied to you, sorta like political opinions and religious beliefs.

Everything you know is wrong.

People will say U2 suck and hate them just because of Bono or because of (this song):

Beautiful Day
Pride (In the Name of Love)
With or Without You*
New Year's Day
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For*
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Mysterious Ways
Where the Streets Have No Name

Those are U2's most cycled radio hits. I've starred the ones I usually don't skip.

I don't get mad, I just get a little frustrated and quietly annoyed. I hardly ever listen to those I listed. So, I don't know.

See, you have a reason to dislike the person, but you wouldn't go and say to someone liking his music that they are wrong, right? You can point out that Chris Brown is a vile human being, but there's just no way to "prove" that his music is somehow worse than anything else.

True to some extent, but I'll keep from commenting that more than this, because that would most likely break the rules.

I do. People get I know hate U2 and reason Bono and/or (a) radio hits for their hate.

Ah, so you are saying that people usually hate the band for the wrong reasons..?

Unreal, isn't it?

Because Im right and you are wrong.

This.
But really, people just like arguing. And they do have better things to be doing, but maybe they just don't realize that dying in their beds, many years from now, that they would be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance, to come back here as young men and tell their enemies that they may take their lives, but they will never take their freedom!

get was suppose be that, I think. Who knows. I don't.

Anyway, hardly any people my age know anything about U2 other than Bono, Bono hearsay and his "appearance" in South Park, or their radio hits. They judge U2 off of that and it sucks because U2 has some pretty damn good songs outside of their hits.

So, I am not sure if those are "wrong reasons". I think the "hating Bono" is, however.

I'm 'in to music' and when someone starts singing Nicki Minaj I get an overwhelming feeling to punch them in the face.

This is exactly what I mean. Why does a different taste in music make you violent? Nicki Minaj is horrible in my opinion too, but if someone likes that, let them like it right?

everything/anything can be compared to sand on a beach

because people dont understand the skills it take to perform some music, and some people stereotype genres ignorantly.

I don't like music based on how much skill it takes to perform. I can still appreciate it though, but music should be more about creativity than technical skill imo.
