This is actually the stupidest thing ever posted on B.net:

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

Do you think having great music for the title screen/main menu is important to the player? It can range from calm and smoothing to intense and getting you pumped up to dive right in.

I mean, I remember the Mega Man 2 screen making me want to jump right into the difficult mode. Bring it on!

But then I remember games where the intro music was actually better than the game itself...such as Buck Bumble for the N64.

What do you think?

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Typically not too important but Reach's main menu had the loudest music. It simply blared and got annoying.

Halo 3 had the greatest main menu music in any game i have played

I find it to be quite important. Music is one of the first things I notice in a game, and the Title Screen, if done right, can really give you a good sense of what you should expect soon after leaving that title screen.

It is quite important to me, i loved halo 3's opening soundtrack on the title screen. Music sets the pace for a game, and if done poorly for me can ruin the game. Done right however it makes the experience quite a bit better. (these is game music in general not just title screen)

important to me. menu music from Deus Ex is amazing. it sets the tone and shows me the game will be epic. Other menu music like From ME3 is subtle but very calming if you really listen to the track and hear the ME3 theme embedded into it.

I love video game music and have all my favorite video game menu music on my mp3 player. Stuff like BF3's menu music is also calming to listen to when putting that on loop for background noise while working on stuff late in the night when everything is quiet outside.

Severely important, at least to me.

Without The Flood, I wouldn't know what an opinion is.

Depending on the game, a title screen can be a great opportunity to set the tone for the game. To contrast the OP's more hype title screens, take a look at the title screens for Shadow of the Colossus and Braid. Shadow of the Colossus in particular does a great job of embodying the game's lonely, haunting feeling.

I'll also admit I'm a sucker for any title screen involving Nobuo Uematsu.

God damn it's just so perfect.

Congratulations. You're literate!

It can make or break the game.

"If you want to test a man's character, give him power" -- Abraham Lincoln

What bothers me still is that in Halo 4 we still have a lack of audio control settings. I can't adjust the music volume according to chat volume.
