Subject: Corny things you've done for love

"Life is constantly fleeting from your grasp even from the very day it's bestowed upon you, but the shadow of death is always there, waiting for its chance to take you away."

"Even though many may not think so, ignorance and innocence are one and the same. The only difference is that one sounds nicer."

"I once knew a man who spent his entire life contemplating where we go after our death....it's a shame he realized it a second too late to tell anyone."

I have written some truly cheesy love poetry.
Being a poet, I actually wouldn't mind hearing some of it.

Or, well, reading. You know, since I wouldn't be actually "hearing" it.

The only poems I've written were last second mash ups because I forgot to do them for an assignment.

I still remember them too, surprisingly.
I write them for fun, as well as a few stories, though I haven't been writing as much lately.

Hm, are you in any kind of group though? Or have you gone to any slams or readings and such?

Sadly, though my drama class in high school helped me become a little better about it, I suffer from stage freight when placed in front of an audience. I did run my work past numerous friends and teachers at my old school as I wrote different ones, though. I received many positive reviews. I had a small bit of my work put into the school literary magazine, though not too much of it...since most of what I had written at the time was deemed "inappropriate".

I know, right?
Jay acts like she's better than everyone else simply because she's a chick.
I hope she chokes to death.

It was reeeeeeeeeally bad. I mean, my non-love poetry is pretty good, but these were just...bad. So cheesy. So embarrassingly earnest. So never seeing the light of day again.

But I would be happy to talk writing with you some time and show you other things I've done that aren't nearly as embarrassing. XD

Oh, i'm sure it couldn't be as awful as you say. And i'm relatively certain all love poetry is cheesy to one degree or another. Regardless, i'll keep your offer in mind. I always enjoy seeing the different flavors of writing that different people can bring to the table.

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

Brighten your day with science.

Did a musical dance thing at lunch for my High School babe.

It was like 30 years ago and went something like:

Summer lovin'. Had me a blast.

Talking about Sweden is an ultrabannable offense.

Too bad being completely and utterly wrong isn't a bannable offense.

I don't have a problem with stage fright, my poem consisted of making fun of the poems I have heard so far in a subtle fashion.

Most of my poetry had to do with insanity, fantasy places, sadness and regret, and occasionally a poem or two themed around love. More recent ones were about hope, revenge, union, and one or two that tell stories. And other things too, probably. I don't remember everything i've written.

I think mine went,

"I have no idea what to right
Usually it's some sappy love poem
Or something "deep" about leaves falling from trees
Maybe about a walk in the park
Or hell, even what I had for lunch
Probably about how cold it is outside
Or about Roses, and Violets.... Refrigerators

But really, that would be too much effort"

When i first asked out my girlfriend, i performed a magic trick that made a giant poke'ball appear out of the beanie she was wearing. I gave it to her to open and when she clicked the button, the top opened and inside was a note that said "Will you go out with me?"

Then a couple months later a school dance was coming up so i got some friends together for some a couple games of cards. Halfway through i said "Well i gotta fold, this hand is -blam!-" I showed everyone my cards, there was a word written on each of them that said "Will. You. Go. To. Homecoming. With. Me?"

Moral of the story kids, become a magician and get all the ladies

Geez, could've at least tried to make it rhyme. I don't mind free verse, but lazy free verse is just dreadful. I guess i'll just go ahead and type the little eight-line poem I mentioned in an earlier post. Fair warning, it may sound cheesy.

"A flower has its beauty,
But can never smell as sweet
As the scent that does arise
When two souls bound to me
Come together with burning passion,
And unite through love as one
Beneath the frozen moonlight
To greet the morning sun."

It was actually in a different format, but eh.

Oh and I have no idea what to rate poetry. So...

I haven't done much aside from asking out Ms. Teen USA or something like that a few years ago, but one of my buddies up in Georgia managed to stand up on a blow-up raft in the middle of a lake while holding a sign asking out some girl. She said yes.

He fell off the raft.

I don't think I've ever done corny. Just thoughtful.

  • 12.08.2012 8:43 PM PDT

Unreal, isn't it?

I just sent a girl a zippo with her nickname specially engraved on it (Not normal engraving, had to get it specially done).

Also wrote a song or two. And a bunch of lame, being-a-tool stuff too, but that's not really the same.
