I'm glad it won. It's the only one I'd consider for the position.

it's just me against the world

I'm surprised not many people have mentioned COD:4. I mean this was the game that pretty much changed the industry to what it is today. This is the game that started the shift to multiplayer focused games, this lead to the single biggest gain in the FPS sections, and has influenced more games in the past 5 years than any of these other titles mentioned.

Everybody has their opinions. These awards shows are just a waste of time.

CoD 4 was definitely one of the top five games for the 360's life but it didn't change the industry for the better. Because of its success, more companies began copying its gameplay style (copying Halo's wouldn't have made sense since it was a sci-fi arena shooter). And focus on multiplayer isn't a good thing and it is what has killed the industry. CoD 4 led to MW2 which led to flashy game aesthetics rather than quality gameplay.

Exactly my point, I never said it was good influence. But it is the strongest influence in the industry in the past decade. And that is why it deserves to win game of the decade. Did Half-Life, Halo, Red Dead, or any others single handedly destroy an entire gaming industry? I don't think so.

World of warcraft is a terrible and repetitive game. I was severely disappointed my mists of pandaria.

OT: I never liked half life 2 but meh.

Vanilla WoW was best WoW.

This x10.

WoW really was as fun as you wanted it to be. And I'm still convinced it should've been GotD. Another reason? Half Life 2's graphics and gameplay are incredibly dated while WoW's graphics are not and it's gameplay is being improved upon all the time. Is that fair? Probably not but it's something WoW has going for it.

"Wake me...when you need me."

I think it deserved to be in the running, but it wasn't the game of the decade.

If anything, it should have been Grand Theft Auto III.

I think Valve is overrated. It is good, but overrated. Especially L4D.

Hahahaha well Halo did help it immensely with the first two games.

Halo actually maybe should have gotten in. Redefined and resurrected the Sci-Fi shooter and video game genre along with the console FPS, and also the second game allowed Xbox Live to happen and be a success.

Predictable, but well deserved nonetheless. Although I never quite understood all of the love for it.

My GotD is Red Dead Redemption.

A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.

Well, I can't say I disagree.

WoW influenced the MMO genre just as much if not more than CoD did to shooters.

In my opinion it should have been Halo 2. It had a huge influence on FPS Multiplayer and XBL.

Don't like me? Well take seat next other -blam!-es waiting for me to give a -blam!-.

"Men of Rohan! Of Gondor! My brothers. I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come, when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends, and break all bonds of fellowship. An hour of wolves, and shattered shields, when the Age of men comes crashing down. But it is not this day, this day, we fight!"

That's what a lot of Sci-Fi movies and books do as well. Starcraft was inspired by Aliens, Starship Troopers, and Warhammer 40,000, but that doesn't mean the game didn't redefine RTS's or contribute to the Sci-Fi genre.

Take me into your heart! Accept me as your savior! Nail me to the -blam!- cross, and let me be reborn!

Even though I knew it wouldn't, I wanted Wind Waker to win :(

I don't see all the hype surrounding Half Life 2 though. I played it, and had an enoyable time. I didn't think it was mind blowing or anything, just average for me. Half Life 1 was also like that.

That's cool. I still have yet to play it.
