Perhaps it would be cool to have a new multiplayer type where everyone has the same color armor and character model (I.E. - Everyone would be Green Spartans regardless of what their default character colors or model was).

Bungie has always said that they did not create certain armor colors because it gives an advantage to those colors (Most specifically black), and this would be the perfect place to level the playing field. Everyone get the same green armor that the Master Chief has in the game.

It could be called Spartan Training Grounds (or Spartan War Games) in a nod to the books where Spartans played war games against each other. The only indicator of what team you would see would be the gamer icon above your teammates. All other indicitators would still be present such as flag indicators, bomb arming area, ect. You would still be designated Blue or Red team but everyone's armor color would be Green.

Bad idea. At least for team games. The primary way that you ID teammates is by the primary colour of their armour. Can you image how much accidental TKing there would be if you were all the same colour?

However, for free-for-all gametypes, there could be an option like:
Force all players to same primary colour armour?
Yes.
No.

And yeah, Opey could probably win that game without using his BR. Best SMG user in Halo.

When I saw this thread, my jaw literally dropped.

I freakin made that gametype in Halo 2.

It's one life, SMG and Magnum start, Human weapons, Double time weapon respawn, Human vehicles, Unlimited score, 4 minute rounds, first to 4 rounds.

I also made a War Games with no shields and no radar, and a Future War Games with overshields, BR, Brute Plasma Rifle, and grenade start, and new classsic weapons.

It's cool my gametypes have gotten around. Even the names. I am Opey Master. Where did you hear of my gametype? Are you friends with Boomin4u? He asked for the settings for Spartan War Game [there's no s, cuz it doesn't fit]

Oh, and to answer your question, that would be a bad idea to have the same color armor. Even when they're training, they have markers, how tags to tell who their teammates are.

Yes that is the primary way, but when the Spartans trained they didn't have different armor colors. All they had was their indicators of their team members. It would take a little while to get used to it, and would promote awareness of what you are shotting at. You'd actually have to think about it.

Yes, all players same color and character model (I.E. No Elites, or new character models).

Re-read my original post. You would identify team member by their gamertag icons. Only the armor color would be the same for all players. Gamertag icons for the opposing team would not be visible. (Just as it is now in Halo 2.)

Ah-ha! Notice how he is not addressing my post! He knows he stole it! :) JK
But I know I've played with you before, maybe not. And I did name my gametype that.

Oh what an argument. Becuase some fictional cybornetically enhanced super soldiers 500 years in the future didn't need different armour colours, we don't either!

Imagine you are coming up on a corner and you are holding a shotgun with everyone (even though it is a team game) the same colour and model. You're looking around for enemies. Then you hear some gun fire around the corner. You quickly move your sight to where the corner is and a big green spartan rushes round the corner with a sword and he's comming straight at you. Instinctively, you fire. KIlling him in one shot. THEN you notice that he has team marker over his corpse with red 'x' in it. He was on your team. You hear 'Betrayal' read by the announcer. And then 'You TKing -blam!-tard!' over the team radio.

But you'd only be aware of his presense for less than a second. Your immediate thought was that he was an enemy. So you fired. With no obvious calling signs, such as their armour being a different colour, you just assumed and acted in self defense.

Had you waited, looked up to see if they had a team marker above their head, and they hadn't, you would be dead.

Have a team based gametype where everyone is the same colour and player model is impractical and stupid. So just drop it.

I think you need to see CTF, Assault, Team Slayer, King of the Hill, Territories, or Oddball.

I am not suggesting that all game types be this way, only that a playlist be setup this way. If people didn't enjoy it then they wouldn't have to play it.

I think it's sad that one needs a color to tell them when to fire one's weapon, and that one is not aware enough of their surroundings to know where one's teammates are.

In current warfare soilders have to identify your target BEFORE you engage an enemy. Failure to do so results in friendly fire.
Perhaps you could go ask the enemy to change the color of their uniforms because it is to close to your own???? (<--that's sarcasm)

Communication is the key to eliminate friendly fire. Knowing where and when your teammates will be is essential to survival and adds an additional layer to the game play elements.

You know that your teammates would shoot anything green.

I think it's an awesome idea. Spartan vs. Spartan. Love it. That way you actually have some Human competition instead of Covenant. But to make this kind of map, there would need to be mods and such. Bungie should make a Bonus Mission part of the game, so you can do the STG.
