I played it, and it was not GOTY nominee worthy.
It was a great game, with an 8/10 story. I think the VGA's were trying to prove they weren't complete sellouts, when they actually are.
If you haven't played, it's a game that supposedly tailors to how you play, when in actuality, no matter what you do, you get the same result. Every time. With a few exceptions.
You can pick when 1 out of 2 people die, which was pretty cool, but other than that singular exception, everyone dies when the game says, and all you do is determine your relationship with them, which jerks your heartstrings a little. It was an interactive novel.
Just look at the games that have won in the last 5 years. BioShock, Read Dead Redemption, Skyrim, Oblivion, GTA 4.
