Subject: Spartan Ops Season Break Trailer

http://www.halo-forum.com

Here is a trailer for the second half of season one.

There's a few cool things in there.

-Thorne went down swinging it seems

-Infinity gets boarded as predicted and Palmer leads the defense

-Jul gets what he was looking for?

-New architecture. Flood? Precurser? Who knows.

*UPDATE*

Extended Trailer

-Looks like we get a Broadsword mission! Glad 343i are varying things.

-New environments including the Infinity, not the campaign version.

We have to wait THREE weeks instead of one?!

Yeah, mid-season break unfortunately.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

That structure at 0:36 looks very different to anything we've ever seen before.

Anyone's inner Mass Effect fan grin when Palmer shouted "HOLD THE LINE!"?

Can't wait for some of the new episodes - more space battles, more epic confrontations, more mysterious revelations. I hope the 3 week wait is worth it, glad to hear that there'll be new locations too.

Any time I hear "hold the line" I think Toto.

I'm really looking forward to the cinematics. They are always impressive and the new ones seem more action oriented. And the change of scenery for the missions should be good.

Captain/Major Kirrahe; what a legend. I love what Mordin says about him:

"Always big on speeches. "Hold the line". Prefer to get job done and go home".

We should know better, because we are better.

Return of the Flood? I prefer the Flood to the Prometheans anyway.

I hope so. It would make sense and I think it would be a welcome return for gameplay too.

That space battle scene is from Episode 1, unfortunately.

But I am intrigued by that bio-architecture looking thing. It looks far too out of place to be Forerunner or Covenant, nothing like them at all, which to me means it's a new faction. It could be a Precursor structure the Forerunners dug up and were researching on Requiem, or it could be Flood. Neither of those sound likely, because it'd be odd for the Precursors to be introduced in Spartan Ops, as they're more fit for a main game reveal. And the Flood would require entirely new enemy behavior modeling and art, also seems unlikely for S:ops. If it is the Flood, however, I'll be very impressed.

So for now, I have a nagging feeling it's a bizarre covenant structure, but that seems as likely as any of the others so it's up in the air.

Edit: Hell, after seeing it again, it very well could be alive itself. What a twist that would be, if it was a sleeping Precursor.

Love how Palmer apparently does not know how to use a helmet.

Can that mysterious structure have anything to do with that downed vessel from the anniversary terminals? Probably not, but I just wanna know when that thing will show up in the trilogy. It's most likely Precursor related.

I would like a reasonably sized, but kinda ambiguous, discussion to take place if it was actually alive. It's very bizarre looking.

The only possibilities I have ever seen for the Terminal ship was Ancient Human, Ancient Forerunner or Precurser. I usually lean towards Ancient Humans but the symbols from the terminal show up in Halo 4 and Cortana says they are of Forerunner origin. So I'm thinking that some Forerunner splinter group from the Forerunner-Precurser war set up an isolated colony/civilisation before the Forerunners we know lost their historical records of that time.

It's all speculation though.

Brains beats brawn get used to it

Fear the Red Comet

Variety is the spice of life.
Long live games.
Death to all fanboys.

If anything the structure reminded me of the general shape and structure of the Collector General from Mass Effect 2

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

The strange stucture looks awfully a lot like a Scarab...

If that was the case, I would be ecstatic...

If there are Firefight Wave defense style levels with Flood then I will be VERY happy.

As cool as that would be, I doubt they will code for an entire new species just for Spartan Ops.

I don't think they'll have to, I suspect that there are some Flood already in there. We have infected Spartan models for multiplayer and the whole backstory of the Halo universe involve Flood so I think they will get some kind of a cameo.

Cutscene if not gameplay, 343 said that there was no Flood in Campaign but they dodged every question about Flood in Spartan Ops.

Maybe. Although the legs look robotic rather than organic.

Whatever it is, it can't be Forerunner. Between the three factions already in game, it would most likely be Covenant, but the thing almost looks like it could be alive. Too organic to be Covenant, I'd wager.

Though in the back of my mind I'm retaining an expectation that it will be Covenant, to avoid getting my hopes up.

And it wouldn't be that hard to just put the infected Spartan skin onto the AI of an Elite or something, so I don't think it'd be that hard to have Flood, just dunno if there'd be Infection forms or any of the others we're used too...like Pure Forms or the Carriers.

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

Infinity gets boarded? I -blam!- called it!

To be honest it reminds me of Abandon's environment, just overgrowing a Covenant structure. I don't even think anything interesting will happen.
