why a murder train?Well, The Blues revolve around trains, and I'm trying to be Blues-y about it.
I think a t-rex sounds better, I mean Murder T-rex. just think about it.
This made my day.

Hitler loved his family, does that make him a goody-two-shoes?

Of course, he did kill Hitler after all.

Yeah, but he also killed the guy who killed hitler.

Marston shouldn't have died.

Rockstar has a hard on for killing their protagonists these days.
I think the goal is to discourage sequels.

Yeah well they killed off any possibility of a sequel with Jack Marston's existence.

Marston dying was what made the ending amazing.
Man I knew I shouldn't have come into this thread... *sad face/tear* ..I haven't gotten through the game yet. Oh well, good to know.

RDR is one of my favorite games of all time. Rockstar are the masters of storytelling and character development in video games. John Marston is one of the best characters in gaming ever and his death made the story even better. He realizes that he can never escape his past and the only way to keep his family safe is to let himself be killed, but not before going out in a blaze of glory.

Truly a masterpiece of a game.

Anyone else find it ironic that the Western genre used to be nothing but a pit yet Rockstar managed to make arguably the most successful game of all time and it's a Western?

Putting my own little piece in, I liked the change to Jack. Racing back the homestead and seeing John's body carried even more emotion that it would have from John's perspective himself. And for the purposes of great storytelling...I can live with playing as Jack.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Definitely Rockstar's greatest game (though GTA San Andreas follows closely behind) and most likely one of the greatest games ever created. I have to agree with you wholeheartedly, OP.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Yar, that was one of the greats. It was one of few games which actually used its medium effectively in telling a story, and it shows.

"I will show you how a true Prussian officer fights!"

"And i will show you where the iron crosses grow..."

- "Cross of Iron"

Great game.

心の中に弱い風が吹いています。

It was mediocre in my opinion. I really couldn't get behind the story. Even when I beat the game it felt as though I hadn't really done anything spectacular.

One of the few original games today.

There's no way to get back experiences you missed.
So start right now today and risk furiousness for bliss.

I love RDR. Great story and fun gameplay. Would definitely buy the sequel if they ever make it.

:O

*gasps*

That's such a disappointment! It's one of the greatest stories I've ever had the joy of experiencing.

Thanks for reading my signature!

I don't think there's another game where the ending had such an effect emotionally, killing Ross was the greatest satisfaction in a game ever.

Bit of a -blam!-er its not on PC. Oh and the Undead Nightmare DLC was awful.

^This.
As the OP and Foman said, it really is a "game of the generation" achievement. The open-world (and awesome contrast of environments throughout the story), the characters, the plot writing, the music (especially some of the lyrical songs), and the overall atmosphere makes it something truly special.

In ten years time we'll look back at RDR and feel the greatest sense of nostalgia and look at the game as a true classic.

The dream of a next gen sequel makes me a happy gamer. It sold over 13 million copies and received a ridiculous amount of GoTY awards. No way in hell it doesn't return for next gen.

Red Dead Revolution, I can feel it.

I enjoyed the Undead DLC.

Anyway, I've been waiting FOREVER for them to make a port for the PC! One day... one day...

I thought it was meh. One of the biggest things about RDR for me was the immersion brought from the way the people went about their lives, and how distinct the landscapes and cities were. Undead Nightmare just throws that out the window, plus it only takes 5 minutes to complete.
