Halo 3 Legendary (Co-op and Solo) complete, I guess its time to get Forging.

Sure, it sounds odd, afterall all these things are built in other galaxies etc. But maybe it is an ancient advanced human civilization like the Mayan's or Atlantians.

I mean, come on, why would there be a huge forerunner structure underneath Africa.

Far fetched, I know...but who knows the truth. Guessing is half the fun.

That would also explain why the Monitors only chose humans as the reclaimers. But also remember that the Forerunners have installed numerous structures on other planets.

That would also be a cool little twist. How ironic would it be that the Covenant were destroying what they worshiped without even knowing it?

Makes sense. If there are ancient Forerunner objects on Earth, then the Forerunners must've been ancient humans, like the Mayans or Atlantians. But then how could the Covenant gotten "Forerunner" technology(ie superheated plasma guns, etc.) if the Forerunners were humans that lived a thousand years ago?

You know, I don't think the Covenant found all the Halos, if not even one before the Pillar of Autumn. The Prophets kept reassuring themselves that more rings would be found after the debacle at Halo 04, and the Prophet of Supposition noted that the discovery of Halo was the greatest bestowment of their faith in over a millennia. If the Covenant hasn't found the Halos...well..we know the remains on Halo get more revealing with each game.

Why only Africa? Why not ancient Egyptian relics, or central American ruins? There's some pretty bizarre stuff at those places. Like how the pyramids are aligned directly with a star, central American pictoglyphs that depict a chariot-like "spaceship" sphere(you'd think it's something of Forerunner design), and so forth.
