Smoking needs to be banned in all public places. Not because it's bad for the smoker but because of second-hand smoke and people with asthma or breathing problems. If you wanna die from cancer and live a short life, that's fine by me but I wanna live a long and healthy life and not worry about being around your disgusting smoke.

Brainwashing, idiotic media: "hur dur, vido gaems cas vilenc n iz nt gud. dey ned 2 b baned."

Logic: Really? Then please explain how there's violence in third world countries. I guess they're all poor due to the large amount of video games they buy.

I'd wager it's far more dangerous to drive a car every day than it is too smoke, but you don't see car dealerships putting pictures of gruesome accidents in the car when they sell it to you.

Both can be lethal, both are voluntary. Leave them be.

The only time accidents happen is usually when people are stupid enough to drink and drive, drive in harsh weather, drive while sleepy, and drive and text. Car accidents hardly ever happen randomly because people are educated in driving schools before given the ability to drive.

And people knowing all the dangers you just listed, still go out and drink and drive, they still drive when sleepy, and people still use their phones while driving, not to mention shaving, putting make-up on, reading, drinking coffee, eating, changing clothes, and a myriad of other distracting behaviours.

And it's the same with smoking. People know the risks of smoking, they know of lung cancer, throat cancer, emphysema, the bad smells, the loss of money from buying it and people still smoke.

People are going to do what they want to do, even if they know that it can possibly be dangerous and lethal, because they still want to do it.

Recon Number 54 -
If they are still looking, then while holding the snarl, I let drool start to drip from my mouth, I stand, curl my fingers into claws and with a hunched over crouch, I then make slow and deliberate steps towards them. When I get close enough, I let them hear my agonized and gasping growls and then, if they continue to stare, when I get within arm's reach? I kiss them on the nose, and run away giggling.

Why do people not understand it isn't to discourage current smokers but to help prevent people buying them and getting addicted in the first place.

One more step to getting rid of this disgusting habit.

Nobody here is proposing banning smoking, only putting the companies out of business.

The fact that it is 2012 and people are still smoking/picking up smoking just doesn't make sense to me.

We have enough medical research, and quitting plans/products that there's no excuse to think that you're doing nothing wrong by smoking.

Both yourself and the government share the same delusion: that people are not aware of the damage they are doing when they are smoking. The issue is actually far deeper than that. These people know what they are doing, they simply do not care. I ask,who are you to tell them they should?

Without The Flood, I wouldn't know what an opinion is.

I'm pretty sure it's been done on packaging in North America for quite a while now.

Well, an immediate answer is that they are harming everyone around them.

Indeed I have. Are you aware that, if you live in a heavily populated area, you likely inhale far more carcinogens on the commute to work or school than from a cigarette? Lots of things in the world are unhealthy, and some of them will only be a danger to you as the result of someone else's actions. I suggest caution when you so carelessly advocate the restriction of freedom for other individuals.

you do know diesel exhaust is labeled as a carcinogen now right? so are we going to shut down the interstate?

lol its not even that its as simple as avoiding people that are currently smoking,so stop -blam!-ing because thats what designated smoking areas are for!!!

I'm not advocating for it to be illegal, I never said that. I just want people to stop trying cigarettes, and for current smokers to start giving a crap about their life. Wanna know why they don't care? Because they think that it is something they can't fight. They gave up, and now their life will revolve around smoking, and they will suffer towards the end of their life. Probably so bad that they will wish they were dead. I refuse to simply turn my head and say nothing as they suffer.

Obviously in my perfect world everyone would have the smarts to avoid smoking, and the balls to quit if they ever start.

As for exhaust, I completely agree. It's bad.

I can tell you from personal experience alone that this is incorrect, but I am certain you knew that even as you were writing it. People don't make sense, the sooner you stop trying to rationalise every decision they make, the more content you'll be. I must sleep now, farewell,
