IMO, the soundtrack from Halo 4 is the best yet. The original trilogy music was fantastic, and Reach's was good too, but some tracks in Halo 4 are just amazing.

This one, 117, is quite possibly my favorite Halo track

  • 12.09.2012 10:42 AM PDT

I thought it was good.

My troll sense is tingling.

Halo 4's soundtrack is my second favourite. I prefer ODST.

  • 12.09.2012 10:43 AM PDT

People are just incredibly butthurt that it's not Marty that composed it.

The soundtracks are good.

  • 12.09.2012 10:43 AM PDT

I thought it was decent, but only a few tracks actually stood out to me.

  • 12.09.2012 10:43 AM PDT

Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.

It's good but it can't compare to Marty just yet. But I hope instead they create their own epic score instead of trying to live up to someone else's legacy.

This is actually the stupidest thing ever posted on B.net:

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

Yes, OP, they're called opinions.

I eat my milk...

...without any milk.

I'm glad I'm not the only one in love with the 117 track.

That's what they did. One of the first things they said was that they wanted to respect Halo's soundtrack, but they weren't trying to be Marty.

Apples and oranges, you can't compare the two.

  • 12.09.2012 10:46 AM PDT

A hero need not speak. When he is gone, the world will speak for him.

The OST is good, but you can't really hear it most of the time.

  • 12.09.2012 10:46 AM PDT

117, To Galaxy, Nemesis, Immaterial, Awakening, Revival, Arrival, Legacy, Requiem...

Pretty much the whole soundtrack is brilliant.

You can't compare the two composers, but in my opinion they're on par.

Steam

In comparison to other games, it isn't great.
In comparison to other Halo games, it is pretty good.

Aren't you the idiot that thought 343 made CEA "Too easy" by giving players more options for campaign? (namely the Bandana skull?)

I'll take that as a yes.

It's a shame Awakening didn't play in the game beyond the opening percussion. The piano and strings part of the song comprises my favourite Halo track ever.

No point in putting something funny, clever or informative here. Most probably im going to get perma-banned anyway.

Yes, it is not memorable at all. For some reason a lot of people say that 117 is their favorite track and that one is the only one that even resembles anything from Marty's masterpieces. Go figure...

Marty made great music, but calling them master pieces anymore than Davidge's is a huge stretch. Davidge was never trying to be Marty, he was going for a different style, a more cinematic style, better fitting Halo 4's more cinematic style.

You can't compare the two.

Meh.
Max Payne 3's soundtrack was way better.
Also, Skyrim and Borderlands 2 are good mentions.

Pretty much this.

People just toss around statements like "it's generic" so much, it's simply not true. The only track that even comes close to that is Ascendancy.

Belly of the Beast, Requiem, Legacy, Haven, Solace, To Galaxy, 117, Revival, Nemesis and green & Blue are some of the best tracks in the series. Legacy is the first track in 8 years to topple In Amber Clad from the top spot for me.

Davidge did a fantastic job. I genuinely felt like I was on an odyssey of orchestral brilliance, and despite the range of musical emotion from alien electronics to bittersweet violins and choirs, the Halo 4 OST feels like one solid, living, breathing, entity. I found the music tapped into a deeper, contrasting set of emotions, filled with dread, and a far off sense of hope.

That is what Halo 4's story set out to deliver, that's what it accomplished.
