I think Halo should have just ended if Bungie stopped making them.

You think it should have ended with a plothole-filled campaign with a cliffhanger? Really?

There is nothing wrong with an open ending.
In fact I'd rather have that open ending more than any sequel.

You're absolutely right, but in the books, it's stated that Mendicant Bias wants to test humanity, and he sends John to Requiem. And what about the Covenant? Just because the leaders are dead, doesn't mean the whole Covenant alliance is. There are literally thousands of Elites who still believe in the religion, it's not going to go away because of the fact that they've been fighting for years, deeply believing in their beliefs for decades.

And don't even get me started on the Gravemind.

All of those are things that make it such a good open ending.
The idea that everything is great once the hero has finally saved the day is unrealistic (and yes I know this is a futuristic game). The world doesn't stop moving just because the hero is lost, the universe continues as it always have only now marked by the hero. I'd be fine seeing it put to rest like this, things are looking up from the highly pessimistic view on the war previously and in time things might tun out for the better, I don't have to follow the story to the ultimate end of filling the world with smiles and sunshine.

Except for the fact that there are other Halo rings primed, ready to fire, and the Gravemind is still there. The Flood is the biggest threat in the galaxy, and it's still out there, wreaking havoc at different places.

You can't just tell me that is a preferable ending. You just can't.

It could've been better if 343 had put together a decent story. Oh, and less bland environments. Oh, and characters that actually deserve the title "characters".

  • 12.09.2012 1:54 PM PDT

I think it would have been better if 343 listened to the community rather than acting like they had some winning formula.

It's a great game, but it has potential to be better.

Wheres Meh Sniper?

Youtube page

Yes it could have been better given it had more time. But that goes with everything.

I would have been happy to wait for 343i to actually finish Halo 4 before releasing it. All those missing things like Assault, all those broken things like custom game options.

It's a real shame that they felt that a beta wasn't warranted, or that they apparently felt that H4 was ready to be released. They surely must have tested it and encountered the problems, but then decided to go ahead anyway.

Nice assumption. But there was a cliffhanger.

You obviously didn't see the legendary ending. Smells like cliffhanger to me, floating towards a mysterious planet with forerunner markings, as the music crescendos and then cuts to a screeching halt as the game cuts to black?

Nope, not a cliffhanger. Or a sequel hook. Just keep telling yourself that.

I bet you got pissed off at the end of The Grey.

It's called art and imagination. You create your own ending if you really want to, the story of the war ended and the Chief was going back into his slumber just as he had started out the story coming out of it.

I don't like the plot direction so no, time wouldn't help.

Except it's bad imagination when there are very huge unresolved plotholes lurking about.

Aside from bloom and jumping, it's more like CoD than Reach was. After the outcry I thought they might revert back to making a Halo game but alas no.

I don't think you know what a plothole is.

That's not a plothole. That was a calculated piece of storytelling. It leaves the fate of the main character unresolved, but that doesn't mean plothole.

No idea how this can be considered "bad imagination". I think its bad imagination when someone needs every single loose end tied up and explained to them.

The Spartan 1 Project

It doesn't feel unfinished. Underdeveloped, possibly. But more time wouldn't have given the game a better story, story is written and finished long before release.

spartan ops they should have spent more time on absolutely.

I'm pretty sure the fact that there are several Halo rings primed and ready to fire is a plothole. And the inevitable return of the Gravemind. And the fact that Mendicant Bias wanted to test Humanity to the Forerunners.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

They knew they screwed up when everyone was waiting on ranked playlists. They waited until the last minute to discuss it. So they knew they were making a huge mistake and still the put in this bs ranking crap that will come out next year.

Just turn slayer pro into a ranked playlist with 1-50, 1-80 whatever that goes up or down everytime you win or lose.

Without The Flood, I wouldn't know what an opinion is.

I just want to point out that Duke Nukem: Forever was in development for more than a decade.

Half life 2 took 8 years and got game of the decade from the VGAs... TF2 took 9 years and was worth the wait. Long dev time =\= bad game.
