Everything you know is wrong.

I don't know if anyone will be able to answer this, but oh well.

There are two broken branches on the Christmas tree. These branches stem from the trunk and are split dead even in the middle of the branch. The pine needles do not look like they are drying out (yet). I've had the tree for several days now, if it helps.

I am just wondering if the branches will die so I can prune them. Pruning these branches will leave massive holes around the tree and I don't want to prune them unless I really need to.
