Seriously

It's a wasted button if all it does is magnetize you to a wall, and then you fiddle around for a second wondering why you're stuck to the wall, then you realize that the cover system is on.

in most games, this is an absolutely useless wasteful feature since it's pretty much just crouching behind a wall which you already have a button for.

I mean come on, there's only one game where it works well in, and that's Deus Ex: HR, where it switched between cameras so you know whether you're in cover or not,and that stealth was better in first person, if you were in cover, you probably weren't being stealthy enough.

Don't get me started on FPS games, the most redundant thing any dev could do to any FPS would be to add a cover system to it keeping it in first person, you can't see -blam!-, and honestly, I'd rather disable that cover button because just crouching is faster and there really is no need.

Crouch behind a wall, doesn't bother me

My troll sense is tingling.

Stealth games tend to use it well. Deus Ex, Splinter Cell, Metal Gear and so on use it very effectively.

Cover systems aren't always bad, they can work sometimes.

What if I told you...

*scoots in closer*

I hate you

I was about to say " It works in Deus Ex: HR"

Then you mentioned it.

But I agree, I can't stand cover systems, even GoW, I tried playing it and it felt meh.

Eh, in games without cover systems like CoD and Halo, you can stand behind a wall with only your head showing but you can see and shoot the enemy easily. At least in the cover system it makes your arm and gun become visible.
