Dude What.

I have a laptop that runs game decently, but yaknow. lolgamingonlaptop.

So I decided to get myself a legitimate gaming PC. I'd like a nice build for $1000 or so.

I found this build just now, but having absolutely no idea what the best parts and manufacturers are, I'd like some help knowing if this is a good build, and if not, what is.

Halp me, flud?

Looks pretty solid to me. You might be able to get a better price for it though if you shop around at newegg or microcenter(if you live close to one)

Alright.

Is there a major difference in the Intel i5-3570k and the i7-2600k?

Same question with the GTX 660 and 680?

I've never used an i7 but from what I've heard there really isn't a difference when it comes to games between it and a 3570k. A 660 ti is fine and can probably max out any game but a 680 would make your system pretty future proof.

There is a Flood thread about building PC's.

OT: You can get a decent gaming PC for less than that too. I'd say anything over $700 is overpriced. Especially if all your pricing out is the tower. Peripherals are considerably more.

I have a 2600k, and it runs at about 30-50% while playing BF3 (on a 560Ti).
Also, I agree with the above. A 660 will do fine for a while, but a 680 won't have to be updated for a long time.

My Build (Do we do this here now?):
-Intel i7-2600k
-8 GB G. Skill Ripjaws DDR3 2133
-EVGA NVidia GTX 560 Ti
-ThermalTake 750W PSU
-Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM HDD
-ASUS CD Drive
-Cooler Master Elite 430w Case

Alright, I'll probably put in a few more monies and get a 680. I'm looking to make sure I don't need a necessary upgrade for a good while.

Also, there are different manufacturers for GPUs, yet they're all GTX 680s Should I worry about who the manufacturer is?

I like EVGA, but they are all about the same. EVGA has really good quality and customer support, from my experience.

If you're upgrading to a 680 you might want to upgrade the CPU too - sometimes they can bottleneck the performance of the cards. You should be fine though - just a suggestion.

MSI are a great manufacturer, stay away from Powercolour cards and that's about all I can input.

My 680 is a Twin Frozr III edition from MSI and works like a beaut.

Dude What.

I decided to stick with the build in the OP, until I have more money to spend on non-essential upgrades. Thanks guys. Hopefully I won't have too much trouble putting it together.
