I know a lot of cities are on the verge, or have crossed over the threshold. Like Detroit and a laundry list of cities here in California.

What happens to them? I assume city services shut down, like Fire fighting, police, water, street maintenance, etc...

But what happens to the incorporated city? Can it be sold? Does it all just fall apart and people move away?

For that matter, what happens to a State. I know California is also facing bankruptcy. What happens if California goes bankrupt? Does it turn in a Dystopian Mad Max like place?

The human element always mucks things up.

The rest of the country bails them out and we all get a little poorer.

Detroit.

Octavia is best pony.

It turns off all the lights and goes silent so that the landlord won't think it's home.

It loses it's business's and just gets worn down. A lot of boarded up buildings and low rent places. Becomes a bit of paradise a freeland for homeless people.

If America really wants to start fixing the economy giving large corporations significant tax breaks to set up shop in these cities and create jobs in the area. Letting a city die so everybody moves and helps to overpopulating another will only cause more problems.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

They "renegotiate" their debts. Basically they get a free pass to screw their vendors. This makes it hard for them to get and use credit, have vendors perform before paying etc... The politicians lives end up being made much more difficult.

Well, on that note, I remember reading an article of some tycoon wanting to buy a part of Detroit and turning it into a Zombie theme park.

So. . . how is that any different from what it already is? That's like saying you're going to buy a landfill and turn it into a garbage dump.

Oh god what happened to this thread?

  • 12.09.2012 7:27 PM PDT

I don't see you doing anything to help our country.
Except sitting at home, naked, eating twinkies, rubbing your hands together going "Heh. Target Destroyed. Mission Accomplished." Oh wait. that's not helping.

I came in here for knowledge and discussion. Why are the top several posts all reported? Is this some new joker gang that goes around reporting posts?

I don't see a problem with that. Just not in Detroit. Detroit needs to be saved it's just one of those cities that HAS to matter. Yo get another smaller city and do this I think it's brilliant.

For all questions with answers unknown to you, the proper procedure is to assume the answer is peanut butter.

While that may be true, I'm just going to pretend otherwise.

Seriously..? I don't get out much, but if someone has the time and is bored enough to do that, he has absolutely no life.
