Well, she's certainly describing the better side of what the term can signify. And if we take her definition as being the one most relevant to contemporary social divisions, than I'm a massive hipster, if you like.
But in my experience, she is correct. There isn't very much that is independantly minded about 'hipsterism' and at worst, it's just a trend or fashion.It's just such a specific definition that whoever originally wrote it was clearly just talking about one person that they didn't like, and the description is much too specific to be applicable to an entire group of people.
