Impressions?
I've never felt such mixed feelings about a game before. After playing through all of the past console AC games, I was hugely skeptical about this one, considering the historical and geographical setting (no more epic city viewpoints etc.). But the game turned out better than expected. Hunting and crafting both seemed overtly tedious considering you really didn't need to do them, and by the time you were able to get the good stuff it really didn't matter seeing as how you already have enough money to do whatever you wanted anyway. In addition, Connor was a terrible main character imo; so undimensional, I really didn't care about him at all. And why no big battles! Yeah, we got to shoot hoards of red coats with cannons but the closest we got to free killing in a major battle was really just trying not to die as you ran through an artillery zone in pursuit of an assassination target. And of course, the Desmond/main storyline was even less appealing.
Despite these drawbacks I still really enjoyed the game. The voice acting was great and many of the characters were appealing. Other than that, I can't put my finger on what exactly made it as enjoyable as it was, and the fact that there were so many let downs makes it even more confusing.
I'm interested to hear other opinions.
