I like cheese more than you
Except Blue Stilton. That stuff is nasty. As is any cheese that contains stuff other than cheese

Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age and Mass Effect had quite a lot of background lore that is quite interesting to read

Well, Warhammer 40k has games. But they're more like games made for the lore, than lore made for the games. Elder Scrolls it is then. I especially like the variations and similarities between the creation myths of the different races.

Has since expanded to 10,000,000 going back to the Precursors creating humanity, the Forerunners and the Flood.

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

But I'd argue the earlier parts of Halo lore aren't as densely riddled with events as The Elder Scrolls.

I completely agree.

Also, Dragon Age has great lore, even if it seems a bit Tolkien-ish.

Yeah Winter.. it's coming.

I love The Flood. It's my go to place for relaxation. If anyone needs me, then I'll be there.

Mass Effect.
I'm biased.

Amnesia: The Dark Decent probably doesn't have the best lore, but its definitely a worthy addition to this list.
