What county? I feel like you're more of an inland empire guy. I'd certainly suggest moving, even inside CA.

You solve the Writer's Block issue by having a notepad in your pocket every minute of your life including while working at a part-time. I am in your situation. My dad controls many things of my life, and I still have to pay rent, utilities, gas/ insurance for car I borrow from him to go to work. A full-time job solves my problems and yours. As soon as you have money saved up, leave the house "on your terms."

The expenses are nearly the same and probably the stress too but your dignity will go up.

I would be pissed if I was an Australian and I knew that my tax money is going to paying for people just applying to jobs.

How about you be a respectable citizen of Australia and not go into the program, apply for 10 jobs anyway, and then actually work?

You're essentially stealing 250 bucks from your community if you enroll in this program. I can't believe that program exists.

Yeah dude, get out of there. I know a handful of people from out there; work is really tough to find. It's probably easiest to find work in a major metro area/suburban area. LA, SD, even most of OC.

Travelling would be a pain int he ass, but after you get some money in the bank, you could move, or move out of state entirely.

That kind of move would also cost money.

I am probably destined to die here.

I am just hoping I do finally get an interview, get a job, so i Can start saving to leave.

Yeah, I used to live in Victorville, CA myself. It's been a ghost town since '06. In LA, there's a better chance but not much. That said, this has been my best income year, but that's not saying much. My pattern was 2 months working, 3 months unemployed, rinse, repeat.

Wow, a Floodian that has experienced the High Desert first hand in all it's glory.

You know, it can be beautiful up here. But once all the trash moved up from the LA area, it went to hell. I remember when it was actually a good place to live.

EGO mos bulla astrum.

I thought you were going to say your living off of welfare and cheating it in which case I would've called you a bastard.

However I still don't understand what you're really talking about.

Tell your dad to go -blam!- himself and live on your own. He has no right to control your life like that.

Thanks for that. Lets forget to mention I have a comfortable job thanks to that system and the system will make more money off me than I will ever make off it. troll.
So do you think you needed 250 dollars just to apply for jobs?

I could apply for 10 jobs in one day. I wouldn't need 250 bucks for it. It also sounds like the money is an incentive for people to look for jobs. If they don't want to get a job, how about you let them rot in their own filth under a bridge in a city?

I lived there from Dec. '06 to Jun 08. I think by the time I got there things were bad, like you mentioned. Case in point, we move there and leave our things there without unpacking and without putting any curtains up (Stupid). We come back 3 days later and the front door was kicked open and they ransacked the place. Days later, we lose the family cat. So, I don't have pleasant memories of Victorville, except staying up late and playing Halo 2 online. Yeah, it's beautiful but the wind can get bad too.

Also, once we got an alarm system they tried to break in again while we were away from the house. Cops never caught them though. They didn't even try to get fingerprints.

That $250 covers your expenses while you're not employed. How is that a bad thing?

Wait, so you get $250 for just applying for jobs? You don't have to actually accept them or do interviews?
Right? brb, going to aussieland.

Honestly I find it easier to work than finding jobs.

Me too. I've been constantly employed for almost a decade, since I got my first job. If I had to be out of work, I don't know what I'd do...

Thats weird.
Ive been getting youth allowance for about 3 years now and i had no pressure in getting a job.

Though im studying full time, maybe you are not?

But yeh once you get a job youth allowance becomes irrelevant anyway, $250 a fortnight is a ridiculously low amount of money, i spent that much on food and transport alone.

I just saw a green monkey nut shot a small tan lizard(?) in a gunny sack.

OP reminds me of those Occupy idiots, crying because they decided to do what they felt like instead of being responsible and are now paying the price for it.

'Oh no, I have to actually go out and apply for work to be a productive member of society instead of relaxing, writing, and creating meaningful relationships with people!'

  • 12.10.2012 11:30 AM PDT

There's a “U” and “I” in union but just an “I” in my beliefs

Why are you forced to do this?

You're getting paid to apply for jobs, with the advent of e-mail this is an activity that usually takes all of 5 minutes. With your credentials you'll probably get called in for 2-3 interviews out of the 10 places you applied to. It's kind of hard to feel sorry for you in this position.

If you're that concerned about a full-time job eating up all your writing time, just throw the interview. At least you'll still be getting paid.

If I recall correctly, 70% of the Occupy movement was employed full-time in the height of the movement. You clearly have no idea what Occupy is really about.
