Yes, it is a fine thing to chop logic. Really it is. But it all comes back to the fact that to claim that there are no absolutes is an absolute in itself. So we're left with what works in practice, in terms of morality, which is usually supported by the majority. That's as objective as it needs to be. We see the apple and agree it is red.
Individual morality must certainly be subjective. When individual moralities coalesce, a society may consider the collective thought to be an objective morality. I see this as the basis for our laws, and it would also explain why the laws differ in other parts of the world.
As for an apple being red, that isn't determining good or evil.Although a lot of those laws in non-western countries, and also a fair few in western countries are based less on a scientific approach to governance, and more on arbitrary religious rules.
The apple was just an example of continuity, outside of perspective, according to science. People aren't that different from one another at the core, so I think pain is pretty quantifiable.
