A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.

I haven't played BF3 in ages. Might join you if you get a team together and don't mind having a player who's forgotten half the controls.
Well, I don't have high requirements, just try to play the objective and don't take the game too seriously. I was put into squad of guys few days ago who took the game so seriously I had to quit the game, I felt so akward listening to them swear and moan how other players were so "horrible" and "should go back to CoD", even though none of them even finished top 3 in my team. Yeah, it's annoying. Hence why I only ever use my mic with friends from numerous sites.
Same here, I don't really talk with anyone unknown in Xbox Live anymore, mainly because majority of the people use the mic just to annoy others, swear at them or just troll/trashtalk.
