If you expect fairness, act in a fair and reasonable manner. There's absolutely nothing unfair or unreasonable in acquiring a good for the price advertised and demanded by the retailer.
Just because Microsoft is letting you get away with it doesn't morally justify your actions, no more so than people looting stores in a wake of a disaster are justified because there is too much chaos to actually prosecute people.
Woah dude. That's way to extreme, it's more like a store messing up an ad or coupon, and listing, I don't know, a TV for $10 instead of $100, or listing Coke Products as get one free when it intended to be buy one get one free.
Raiding a store and taking stuff for free that DOES cost money isn't the equivalent of someone turning on their Xbox, seeing a map pack for free, and downloading it.Again, you can take some solace in the fact that you asked before downloading the map pack, and at least brought it to the attention of the people who could fix it.
As for your analogy, I see it more like finding a loaf of bread at the grocery store that did not have a price tag on it. Sorry, Hylebos, but this is where it stops being relevant.
The Crimson loaf absolutely has a price tag on it: $0.00. And several thousand happy shoppers have taken said loaves to the register, had them rung up as free, said "thank you!" and have left the building.
So how does the grocer deal with this? Ban those shoppers from his store for buying at the price he advertised? Accuse them of theft? Chase them down and forcibly retrieve the loaves (assuming that this is possible)? Or just say "Oops, my bad, enjoy your free loaves folks! You're welcome!"
