Blame microsoft for all DLC issues. 343i made an amazing game, but the over hype and un-meetable expectations of the fans made it seem awful. Theres also the fact that people ignore the large amounts of good and concentrate on the little parts that are bad.
Making sure that custom game options and Forge worked correctly isn't exactly an un-meetable expectation now is it? Nor is including Assault of classic CTF, or even a pre-game lobby that works correctly?
The only issues that us Halo fans should be discussing is the gameplay which is a matter of opinion and taste, but the reality is that Halo 4 has actual broken and missing features.
Custom games-Only one game mode was missed. Don't whine about that single game mode.
Missing Game Modes-Boohoo your missing 2 game modes. Why not try out regicide, dominion, or the revamped Grifball when that comes out?
I'm not just talking about missing modes. I'm talking about broken options, like instant respawn toggle having no effect. Trying to turn the grifball into a bomb doesn't work. Can't remove sprint. Can't restrict AAs. Can't place weapons directly on maps. Can't change weapon despawn times. And on and on and on and on.
Then theres Forge as well. Lots of lag, no fine tuning, broken palettes, lighting doesn't work. Oh and the file browser doesn't work. Ranks are being bolted on after release, just to help confirm the game was released incomplete.
The little details one by one don't seem like a big deal, but together they make a massive difference. The difference between a game that I could play for years and a game that I've already stopped playing and regret buying.
I don't mind issues of gameplay balance because I can understand how difficult it must be to tune that to satisfy everyone. However Halo 4 has issues that were easy to avoid through even the most basic of testing;
"Oh! Guys custom game options don't work!"
"Thanks for this, we'll fix that before we release it to the ENTIRE WORLD BROKEN AND INCOMPLETE."
You know? Easy.
