Unsuccessfully trying to bring science and reason to The Flood...

It was good, but I thought the twist at the end (about who was really behind it all) was too predictable and lost a lot of impact.

Bruce getting back into Gotham despite it being on complete lockdown and anyone getting in would result in the city being blown up?

Lest we forget that he did train with a league of assassins and most likely came in during night? And just because you see him walking around with no equipment when he first shows up on the scene doesn't necessarily mean that he had absolutely nothing. I find it suspect that batman would have absolutely everything he owns in terms of equipment confined to Gotham.

Doc Bacon, I agree that it was the worst in the series but damn you are wrong on so much of that stuff. Blake was being established and then later revealed as Robin, the successor of Batman. And they make it clear that he would be Robin and not Batman. Bruce survived because the copter was put on auto-pilot and he was shot down into the water. Alfred wasn't hallucinating, that was actually Bruce.

I didn't bother reading anything else, it got a little unbearable.

Did you read it? I know Blake is supposed to be Robin, that is the problem. Bruce managed to escape a 3 mile radius nuclear bomb in 5 seconds, that is stupid. I know Alfred wasn't hallucinating, that was a guy I knew's justification.

I said all of this in the post.

So he walked from some random desert in who knows where with a perfectly undamaged leg brace but took big hits and big falls and he somehow gets all his equipment back? Wat.

Much more. Rises was still great, but no masterpiece.

I get what you're saying, but are they plot-holes? Or just points you didn't like?

The structure of the story made sense to me, yeah some areas were a bit grey but you could understand what was going on.

No. It was overly long, too preachy and riddled with plot holes.

Please elaborate

Now this is a copy paste of a post I made back before, doing this for times sake. There are some things that may be inaccurate now, but it is mostly still exactly what I believe.

This was like the day after I saw the movie

The Dark Knight rises was an incredibly huge disappointment, it felt like a film that should not have even been made, one that did not coincide with the first two movies at all really, kind of like the fourth die hard film, made with a plot that really adds nothing and is just created to bring in some more cash.

I watched the film at a special theater that played the first two Batman films one after another before the midnight premier, so I watched all three films in one sitting, and all that did was remind me how much better the original two was to the new one.

To start, let me say I really liked that Gotham had become it's own kind of "Arkham City" scenario with an underground rising up against it's oppresors, and honestly if that was a standalone film plot without Batman that would have been better. It was almost like Batman was just thrown in to the plot just to have an iconic character, but to me the movie did not feel like a Batman film until the last third of the movie.

Here is a list of all the things wrong with the movie

1. Batman's 8 year Hiatus was stupid, was Rachel's death, the girl that he knew as a kid and then again briefly upon his return to Gotham was so impacting that he became a hermit for literally eight years?

2. Alfred's leaving was stupid, Alfred is one of the most important characters in the Batman universe and by getting rid of him you are removing an integral part of any Batman story. Its things like Alfred leaving that make Dark Knight Rises seem like its not even a Batman film

3. Bane's motivation for destroying Gotham was unbelievable and stupid ("Well Ra's was pretty cool, so eh, I guess I will destroy Gotham and make Batman sad") Yeah he liked Talia, but so much that he was going to kill himself and all these others because of some sort of pedophilic crush? Bane being part of the league itself seemed lame to me.

4. The super hell prison was stupid, it felt like a bad comic book story arc.

5. Bringing the Ra's al ghul league of assassins as the villain back was stupid, the Batman universe is full of amazing villains, there was no reason to re-use this one.

6. Throwing in "Blake" (Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character) was stupid, especially since he has no place in the Batman universe. I actually liked the character, but his appearing out of nowhere to be a big hero? It just did not fit in the Batman universe or film; once again this plot as a standalone film would have been better.

7. Noland bringing in two people in the cast of inception was stupid (This is kind of personal, just because it takes away from the film knowing these characters were casted just because they all worked together before, Gordon-Levitt was actually pretty ok in his role, but Marion Cotillard (Miranda/Talia) was just... terrible)

8. Talia was completely off from her comic book counter part, and before you say it no I am not one of those comic book elitists that thinks the character needs to completely reflect and have the same past as the comic version, but look at Ra's, Joker, Scarecrow, Dent, they were all characters who stayed to their roots, they had the same personality and similiar motivation for being a villain. Talia wanted to killed everyone because "Well Daddy wanted to kill everyone in Gotham and I looooove Daddy." Talia is normally a very strong, rebellious to her father though following his ideology and working with the assassins, but is never so deeply indoctrinated and obsessed with her father that she would kill herself and many others just to finish the job. Also a friend brought up that she acted as Talia since she "played Batman" to achieve her goals, but the character in every other rendition of Batman is madly in love with Bruce Wayne and fights him in jealousy and rage due to his constant rejection. She fathers his child for god sakes.

9. Gordan getting shot and being incapacitated for half the movie just so Blake could be a big shot was stupid. Blake was not actually needed in Batman, Gordon could have, and should have done everything Blake was doing for it to be an actual Batman Film. By having Blake do everything it was just showing that Noland created a role for one of his buddy actors to run around and be awesome, not really necessary for the plot. Once again, that whole segregated city should have been a seperated plot.

10.The football scene with the national anthem was stupid. It was supposed to be epic or something with the little boy singing and all backround music cut out, but it was just laughable. And the entire scene was ruined before the film even started by showing it in the trailers anyways.

11. Bruce exploding in an atom bomb at the end was stupid.

12. Bruce not being dead for some reason was stupid. Now this one my friends argue could have been Alfred's imagining a scenario where Bruce is alive, essentially hallucinating or just daydreaming, but if that were true he would not see Selina Kyle (Catwoman) There with Bruce. Yes Alfred met her before, but briefly, only for two seconds, and as far as he knew Selina was an enemy who Batman was hunting. There would be no reason for him to see Selina there unless she was actually there with Bruce.

13. Selina being in the cafe with Bruce was stupid. Catwoman was great until this point, mainly because she acted like Selina Kyle should, but she would never run away with Bruce like that, it is out of character. She is a thief for the thrills and would not settle down with some guy she fought with for maybe twenty minutes. Their relationship was less than an hour long in Gotham and a woman like her would not become infatuated and elope just like that.

14. Robin was stupid. Having his name be Robin makes absolutely no sense. So by day he is Blake and by night he will go on to be Robin? Using his first name? Its like if everyone calls you Bill, but by night you are the caped crusader, William! It was just a terrible way to throw in a throwback to Robin. If anything Joseph-Gordon Levitte's character could be called Richie for the entire film, but then in the end "hey, your Richard Grayson" and then they could go on to show him finding the Batcave. This would be better for two reasons. One, Robin would be stupid because then there would be a man in a red suit and a green cape running around the city, and reason Two, Blake would go on to be the next Batman anyways. Its not like he would call himself Robin, the movie implies he is taking on the mantle

15. Blake taking the Mantle is stupid.
Blake is a cop, he could not be batman. Bruce Wayne trained for, what is it in the films, like 8 years? Anyways he prepares for years, he dedicates his life to this, Blake is a cop, he has no skills in combat like batman does, granted batman can't fight for -blam!- in this movie.

16. Batman can't fight for -blam!- in this move
Batman is a genius, he should be able to adjust to his situation, using his many different martial arts styles (As seen in Batman Begins) or Gadgets (as seen in Dark Knight) to deal with any combat situation. In Dark Knight Rises he confronts Bane, and the throws punches, when that doesn't work, he throws more punches. Just punches until he loses. He doesn't try anything else, he just sits there and takes it like and idiot. Then, when he fights Bane in the climax, he does it again! But this time it magically works! The fight scenes in this movie are a disgrace to Batman. And normally I do not care about fight scenes that much, but these ones just pissed me off.

17. Batman kills two people.
Yeah, Batman shoots the hell out of the vehicle Talia and her driver are in and both of them die. The driver gets killed by a shot and slumps over, and Talia dies from the damage in the car. Batman kills two people. That goes against everything that Batman stands for, its absolutely ridiculous. This alone destroys the whole attempt at making a Batman film, because this is not Batman.

Though there were some surprises I really liked, for example I thought that Ann Hataway would be terrible as the Catwoman, but she turned out to be the most true to her character out of everyone and was incredibly entertaining to watch. I also enjoyed the role of Scarecrow in this film compared to his two minute defeat in Dark Knight

So anyways, my final verdict is yes, the movie is O.K., if you think of it as a film by itself, but compared to Begins and Dark Knight, it is pretty god-awfully terrible.
Can you honestly say a single scene is even close to the emotion of the boat scene in Dark Knight? Or the finale with Dent with Gordon's Family?

The movie is a disappointment and I am actually kind of sad it was ever made.
You just called everything stupid, because you didnt like it.

I didn't go into the movie wanting a Dark Knight 2.0. I knew it wouldn't be the same no matter how good without the Joker and how well of a job Ledger did. I didn't care for the plot holes much, it was a great movie. Not as good as Dark Knight but pretty damn good for being the sequel to that movie.

It's a prime example of a polished turd. Everything but the production value was at best flawed and at worst film-breaking.

Also Bane was crap. All he did was kill people and spout quotable one-liners.

There are so many that it's difficult to make a concise list, but others in this thread have done so.

-Nuclear reactors turning into a bomb is impossible, it just couldn't happen
-Bane is a pedo
-Talia wants to destroy Gotham for her father...okay, that isn't how she is in the comics but whatevs. She wants to clear out the corruption...oh wait, Batman and Gordon did that in The Dark Knight. The ceremony at the beginning is a testament to their success. She had no reason to do it except to make a plot.
-The prison was immensely stupid
-Fixing a broken back by punching it? u srs Nolan?
-Batman, a trained ninja, loses every fight he's in, even though Bane is slow and fat
-Batman straight up murders 2 guys
-How did Batman get from the prison to Gotham overnight?
-The entire police force goes underground at the same time? lolwut
-Others posted before this comment

Don't get me wrong, it's a very fun and enjoyable movie. The plot still sucked.
