Subject: Cursive, ever learn it?

No, my parents divorced when I was in grade 3 and I was out of school for a big chunk of 3rd grade and I transferred to 3 different schools during that grade so I didn't learn most of the things you learn in that grade until I learned it myself.

For all questions with answers unknown to you, the proper procedure is to assume the answer is peanut butter.

While that may be true, I'm just going to pretend otherwise.

Yep. I believe it was in 5th grade.

Muffins are just ugly cupcakes

They used to think that it'd be necessary for everyone to write/read in cursive, but then they realized the only real advantage to it is that it's harder to forge cursive signatures.

It's harder for most people to read cursive and the cursive of those with bad handwriting is often illegible.

Yep. Used to have damned near perfect handwritting. Now my penmanship resembles a epileptic chicken in a disco hall with a pen attatched to its foot.

The human element always mucks things up.

Had a how-to book for it in second grade but it was 100% optional. I don't need no fancy writin fer somethin as simple as checks.

I write some letters in 'cursive'. Why don't you just teach yourself?

  • 12.10.2012 5:11 PM PDT

The only cursive letters I can remember are the ones in my name lol

"I once knew a man who spent his entire life contemplating where we go after our death....it's a shame he realized it a second too late to tell anyone."

They very lightly tried to teach it to us in...3nd grade at my old school, I think. I never learned it. I didn't figure out how to do my signature until I was 17, because I never needed it before that point.

  • 12.10.2012 5:13 PM PDT

I did. I have no use for it now. Even when I sign things, it's a cursive D followed by a line for the most part.

How old are you?

  • 12.10.2012 5:13 PM PDT

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

Yup. I was taught joined-up writing back in primary school and it is much easier and faster to do. However, my handwriting looks far better when the letters are separated and not conjoined.

:-)

How hot are you?

Old enough that if you were 18 we could go out on a date and it would be ok.

Yep, I still can't do a j or J though. -_-

A capital J is essientally a cursive f but backwards. A lower case j is pretty much a g but without the circle part on the upper half of the letter g.

"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I'd like to think that I walk that line every day."

Yeah. I can still write it, too, albeit slowly. I don't think I've really used it since elementary school.

Shoot me a pm if you want to talk about anything!

I learned cursive in grade school. I still use it when I'm writing with a pen but I don't really know any of the capital letters any more.

And this is why America's education system sucks. Moron.

Been writing that way since 2nd grade. They instilled it good at my private school.

I fail to see the connection between not writing cursive and being a moron.
Please, explain.

BTW I know how to write cursive.

  • 12.10.2012 5:34 PM PDT

I did and used it till the 6th grade then found it pointless. I love cursive though.
