"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."
-Nietzsche

Article. A collector is selling a working copy of every single Super Nintendo game ever released in the USA, Mexico and Canada, for $24,999 on eBay.

Thoughts? I would think such a collection is worth more than that.

"What are we holding on to, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."

You're right; it's probably worth more. I wouldn't ever pay that, but based purely on value it's not a bad deal.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

That is an insane collection, and some serious dedication.
I would think that is worth $30k or more.

Wow he must have a ton of spare money.

  • 12.10.2012 5:19 PM PDT

The absolute most I would pay for that is 10k.

Each of the games, at the rate he's charging, would be 35~ bucks. I can get almost all of them for 5-10 a pop at any game trader. It's a complete scam.

The Internet is an empowerment tool that's agnostic; it doesn't care about race, gender, or age.

Would not buy.

If you can find them. Part of the value comes from it being a completed collection, and the hours the guy spent putting it together so you don't have to.

I could never blow basically a lifetime's worth of money (for videogames) all at once.

I highly doubt that's 15k dollars worth of effort.

Granted, they all do have the cases and manuals, and there are some rare ones there, but it's not worth 25k. 10-15 at the very most.

Take me into your heart! Accept me as your savior! Nail me to the -blam!- cross, and let me be reborn!

I love video games as much as the next guy, but that's just insane.

Unless I can resell the games for more money no way I'm buying that. I can get an emulator with all the games for free.

And you can't really do that because you're not going to sell games that old for $35 each to break even. This is for aging people who never had a childhood but now have more money than brains. Someone in their 40's is going to buy this, almost guaranteed.

That's not the point. The point is that women's clothes will fall off when they see that you own every SNES game ever released.

As a collection. I don't think I want that.

My Pokemon card collection doesn't have -blam!- on this one.

No, it will take me a lifetime to spend 25k on videogames (i.e. consoles and videogames). I don't count TVs, computers, or headphones in that figure.
